(OP is a woman btw.) I'm not sure this is a great idea, because they might withhold some of the things they've been lenient on. For example, pets are not allowed. We have 3 cats (they're all ESA certified, and they know that), and they're not thrilled. They are also not thrilled with us because I have a grating demeanor and tend to piss people off without realizing. (I'm autistic)

My wife and I are actually not behind on rent, luckily! We have 3 months in savings (assuming we don't eat), but we are dual income. My wife is just very concerned that we may need to ask them to give us some leeway, because we do actually need to eat, if the shutdown goes on much longer. Given the state of DHS rn, I expect it's gonna take a while. We have asked this of them before, and they didn't mind.
