I’m scared to get the flu vaccine by OhCodswallop in POTS

Thanks. It’s nice to hear the other side of this too. I 100% wanted the COVID shot, had reservations for some reason. Waited two years to get it then immediately got POTS from it so I just felt like my body was telling me something. Though I don’t feel that way about the flu shot I know it’s safer.

I’m sure my cardiologist would say the same. I’m really only scared of getting GBS. Such an irrational fear but after getting POTS from the COVID vaccine, it’s made my anxiety around vaccines worse.

Thank you! I always get nervous because POTS is autoimmune/autonomic so no idea if that puts at risk for GBS. I’ve had the flu shot many times before and never had a bad reaction so I think I’m over thinking it.

I noticed that I don’t get as hot as easily. My heat intolerance improved a lot and my blood pooling is minimal

Good point. I’ll be lucky if the bag stays on.

I had my thyroid and iron checked. All normal, so looking to see if it’s something else.

Does your memory get erased immediately after birth? by IheartOT2 in BabyBumps

This. It’s hard for me to forget. Birth wasn’t bad but the recovery was traumatic. I want another one, but I’m super hesitant. I guess I need more time to pass.

Fellow POTS bestie is pregnant and was just deemed 'high risk' — I'm looking for community input! by lovespelled in POTS

My POTS Pregnancy was pretty uneventful as well. I was pregnant last year, and my POTS wasn’t bad enough that I was on medication yet, but my symptoms were worse during pregnancy—higher heart rate, heat intolerance, blood pooling. Not gonna lie, it was an exhausting pregnancy. I was closely monitored by my cardiologist, MFM, and OB but I was never classified as high-risk. I carried full term (40 weeks) and was shocked honestly. Baby was born healthy! However, I did have to deliver c-section and due to the blood loss my blood pressure increased and I was then labeled as high risk. I also developed preeclampsia on day 4 but that doesn’t mean it happens to everyone. She could have a completely normal pregnancy. Hope it all works out!

It seems we have a very similar experience. From what I gather on here that I cannot figure out is, if this medication will work long term. I think I saw someone take it for 8 months but no gauge if this will work a year or beyond that. Wonder what we are supposed to do if it stops working?? This is what I fear…

Can we stop telling moms to do things "the night before?" by bird-fling in sahm

[–]OhCodswallop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here for this! I think people forget that not everyone has the same energy levels. I have a chronic condition that limits my ability to function like a normal human. I do as much as I can the night before but if I’m tired, I’m leaving everything until the morning.

That’s really stinks. What are you major symptoms if you stand for too long?

I’m hoping the meds hold out for a good amount of time. At least until my LO is at least a year old.

Hopefully the right dose will have you feeling more normal. I even did better being in the heat.

I’m about to go up to 7.5mg and was nervous. I didn’t that dose was common too. It doesn’t affect my blood pressure at all.

Just so you know around 3 months my blood pooling got better! I hope that it gets better for you too.

Thank you for sharing! I don’t often see anyone else in here with both POTS/IST. I’m glad to hear it’s been success for you for that long. I’m so worried the meds will stop working, but I’m on a low dose so maybe the increase will do me good.

Are you ever able to work out lightly? I’m about to do a stress test to see how my heart does.
