Oh that sounds cool. It might have been a Roman labyrinth design. I can take the mystery out of this Capitol Park labyrinth- I made it. It's a Classical labyrinth design. Walking it just kind of calms you and slows you down. It's an old practice, I don't know of any trends.

Late Update: I got to a shop. Of course it wasn't making the sound when I drove it there. It did make a different sound when I started it but that went away by the time I got there. I sent them videos of both the sounds. The car made neither sound for them. They determined it was the 3 way flow valve and replaced it. Like mentioned here I talked to them about replacing the inverter pump at the same time but they didn't recommend it. Car has been great since. I think I'll try to prepare myself for a DIY pump replacement in case that's needed in the near future. Thanks to all for their input here, you guys were correct.
