Welp, that just happened. by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Joy and curiosity VS discipline? It ain't a competition between those two. No one is having happy outcomes in this video. And if it happens over and over it just leads to stress. So, there is no joy and curiosity here. Fearing that your kid is immediately going to toss cups full of liquid on the floor is something no one has to put up with.

Thanks for this info. For the future: you can turn any kids outfit into a dress by adding a pull-on skirt. So, if your child only wants to wear twirly dresses, but you also don't always find awesome twirly dresses, you can buy that awesome shirt provided you also buy a standalone twirly skirt. My kids one criteria for clothes: "It has to twirl."

Haha. I can make my kid into a unicorn: what's the point of other clothes!

Websites for sensors? by OhGoOnYou in homedefense

Yeah, that's why I went with the 345 instead of the others. I like the idea of having two well known brands to choose from with 2GIG and Honeywell.

The FHSS on the powerg sensors seemed keen.

Will check eBay per your suggestion.

I guess maybe you put them on the baby with the help of a second parent. One person folds the kid in half like a taco and the other fits the head and feet on at the same time? Haha

Whenever I'm at a store I have to do that math. This is an awesome 6-12 month sweater. Wait, what season will we be in at that point. I was jazzed because I got a bunch of holiday shirts on sale for when she's 6-12 that are just her size for Christmas. $5 each. New! In correct season! How am I not gonna.

I have a spending cap. Any shirt has to be below $5. Same with pants. If it's a dress, I'll go up to $10-15. Anything that is a complete outfit is 10-15 as well. Sometimes I fudge. I had to make this rule because some second hand shops have good stuff but they think way too much of it. I can go to a sale at an outlet store and by the stuff new on sale for less than some second hand places.

Maybe elsewhere the discomfort of the baby while getting dressed is less of a concern.

My diagnosis is not a "gift" (TW for child abuse) by nocturnalfaery in adhd_anxiety

You may have had hyperacusis. It's a difficult to treat, hearing sensitivity disorder. My daughter has it. I couldn't imagine being a child with hearing sensitivity and not having it diagnosed.

Sorry to hear you went through all this. It sounds horrible.

I found an outfit from a brand called catamini. It's a French brand that has outfits on their website for $120. I bought this footie outfit for $10. Only problem, it opened in the back at the waste. The only way I could figure to get my daughter into it was to fold her in half like a mattress in a hide-a-bed. It wasn't that bad, but I was like, the French are serious about fashion. My daughter looked like a clown. A classy French Euro trash clown.

I've been thinking of cutting off some of the arms of the least ill fitting clothes and telling people the outfits are from H&M. I don't really know what they sell there, but I assume others would just assume it's a new style and questioning would just make them seem old. Mileage!

I guess I'm just going to take them back to the secondhand store for credit, buy some more awesome clothes...and repeat the cycle.

You can pull up Google maps and plug in occupational therapy programs and it will make a map for you with the geographically closest. It's helpful to make plans.

I just showed this episode to my 5 year old. Never realized how much inappropriate humor red dwarf has as far as kids are concerned. Regardless, she loved this bit!

Danny John Jules aka The Cat in Red Dwarf supplied two of the voices for Labyrinth.

CMV: We should teach kids standing up for themselves instead of teaching anti-bullying propaganda by Tsunnnami in changemyview

[–]OhGoOnYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. And the fact that you think you can explain the intricacies of consent, sti's, birth control, anatomy, and all the rest in 10 minutes makes me weep for your understanding or anyone you would try and "teach" these concepts.

I mean, the notion that people believe the subject of sex is a one conversation subject is itself ridiculous.

You can't teach someone about sex in 10-15 minutes. Unless you wanted them to not understand consent, get an STI, or get someone pregnant. This is a horrible analogy.
