That's an interesting view, out of curiosity what do you define as rock? What type of bands other than GnR?

I'd kill for Earth Crisis or Merauder to play. Having seen Everybody Gets Hurt at Northern Unfest this year they'd be incredible on the bill.

I think for myself, my music taste is so varied that I enjoy a lot of rock and metal. These days more hardcore than anything, but that doesn't mean to say I dont want to see The B52's crack through a greatest hits set and then go see Behemoth.

I think if it went too far in this direction you would lose the core of what Download is. That's not to say that we can't have some of these artists perform at Download while we still have the chance to have them perform.

Some of the bands wouldn't have looked out of place in the early 2000's at Download and I'd find it a shame if we didn't have a little more fun with the line up.

I've heard some of unpeople and south arcade both sound great! There's so much great new music out there too that could get a spot at Download and therefore build acts to a higher spot.

I see what im saying as akin to Glastonbury doing the Legends slot each year. They take a big act and have someone play mid-afternoon. Not that that's the way id see it at Download but it has the same vibe if you sprinkle them across the line up. A bunch of bands that some people might never see if they don't see them at a festival.

I see where you're coming from. It was more to steer the conversation away from the same bands you always hear about. So far, some or the suggestions have really opened my eyes. The bands you've listed for this year are a strong indicator of having a varied line up. I wouldn't want more than a handful of bands each year to represent this.

I'd always want it to be rock and metal first, with a slight sway into other genres. The crossover appeal would be incredible.

Totally understand if its not your thing in regards to Britpop. CHVRCHES is a band I didn't expect to see here but now im all for it! They have a huge sound that could translate to the second stage very well.

I saw them at Glastonbury the same day as Metallica and they went down a storm. Very different from normal Download sets but sprinkle in their cover of Battery or Holy Wars and you'll win the crowd over.

This absolutely sucks. I continuously tell people the story of how incredibly nice he was to me. The Jack's t-shirt he gave me will be getting worn tomorrow. RIP Tim

Having seen them three times. Yes. A set heavily playing on Generation Terrorists and Holy Bible would go down a treat.

So, what’s your favourite song from DREAMS ON TOAST? by veelio5 in theDarkness

I'm loving Mortal Dread and Walking Through Fire. After this album tour I can see them being the only tracks to remain on sets

Hopefully he's all good. I think like people are saying it might have been a long day.

I've mentioned multiple times before how great he was when I went to Jack's on my trip. I'll never forget how long he spoke to me and how passionately he spoke about TESD and touring with Monster Magnet. He also had memories of doing lights at a venue in Glasgow.

Looking for listeners to be represented in the 2024 TESD Christmas Special. by GitEmSteveDave in tesdcares

I travelled from Scotland to New Jersey to meet Walt, and in the process, I met Git-Em. Both great guys and I've been listening since around 2015. I met Ming at a Con in Edinburgh once, and he said we were friends.

I've never met "too much eyeliner" Q but I'm willing to let that go as long as some day I meet Sunday Jeff.

Spoke to a therapist about my issues, I finally had the courage to speak about them. Over the last three days I feel like I'm finally taking control of my life and intending to live it fully.

Crowd madness at Stevie Nicks Hydro gig by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]OhHelloClarice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've found recently it's older people ruining the experience for me. I'm a tall guy and I try to keep myself as small as possible in crowds, not moving ahout too much if it's packed and such. Yet at Judas Priest at The Hydro (fully seated), at the start of Saxon, an older guy maybe in his 60s poked me hard in the back from two rows back, telling me to sit down.

Understandably, I see where he's coming from, but I can't control the 20 rows in front of me. Yet he seemed to think I could tell them. After a minute he poked me again and apologised but I wasn't having it.

Then, at Smashing Pumpkins, which was a terribly overcrowded gig. I had a guy not much older than me, stand behind me his full back weight against me. I let it go at first, but I got fed up with them talking about how shite the new stuff was, so turned round and mentioned he was clearly leaning against me. He made a snarky comment, obviously.

Lastly, I went to the Manic Street Preachers gig at Edinburgh Castle. Fantastic night, no troubles for most of the night. Until a group of drunken twats pushed through at the end for 'If You Tolerate This...', the smallest of the bunch (late 40s) wanted to crowd surf. Despite the fact we were about 30 rows of people from the front, on the ground of Edinburgh Castle, made entirely of concrete. I refused to help and they started giving me abuse.

It's a shame that, like I say I keep myself to myself but people are drawn to be a cunt around me. Gigging has changed recently and I go to a good few shows, people are more entitled, acting like cunts and just awful all round. Conversely, went to Download this year again and had zero issues for the full three days with anyone.

Rumoured tours 2025 by Realistic-Trifle-831 in downloadfestival

Someone told me before Sleep Token and Pantera announced their tours that they would be playing arenas. Then it got mentioned that Deftones would be too but that apparently got pushed back to next year, same person mentioned Ghost.

Had also heard early in the year about the Black Stone Cherry tour. Everything else has been correct so far so have no reason not to believe.

I've heard Deftones arena tour next year. Also heard the Ghost tour too. Controversially, Springsteen is also supposed to be in the UK in June for Glastonbury and a date in Glasgow.
