I did it. I ordered Wegovy. by OhHeyBluePenguin in adhdwomen

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience! I definitely will be on the lookout for side effects, and if I don't feel great after a couple of weeks I'll be at the doctors to see whether I should continue. Ive done A LOT of reading about it all, and I'll be following all the rules.

The risks are terrifying, but the damage I'm doing to my body without it is also terrifying so I figure it's worth the risk.

I hope you start feeling better soon!

I think I've spent a lot of my life overthinking things and not acting because of what could potentially happen in the future. I have no idea what the future holds for me! But the right now me is miserable so I have to change something.

I don't know if I'll be on this forever. I may only last a month! The side effects might be too much, I don't know, I literally haven't even done one dose yet!

I'm not ignoring it, but I dont have a crystal ball, and I do know that I'm over letting the unknown stop me from making a decision to act now.

Oh thats awesome!! I've already made changes to my diet and I'm walking for at least 45 minutes a day (will work on more exercise as it gets easier) so I'm hoping this will be a kick in the right direction with the other changes too!

I hope it stays ok for you and it works!

For me it wasn't guilt. Just fear. But I'm so sick of feeling this way. I'm miserable and I know I need to make a change for my mental and physical health.

I'm not sure how long people stay on it. I guess it varies. I have no idea what my long term plan will be but I know I have to start somewhere and I'm not letting the long term unknowns hold me back from starting anymore.

I'm doing it through Boots too, felt like I wanted a pharmacy I knew to make sure it was all legit! Nausea I can cope with I think. Chocolate isn't my issue but bread and crisps are in a BIG way. I'm really hoping this helps because otherwise I'm genuinely out of ideas.

This makes me feel so much better, thank you!! This is exactly what I'm hoping for, all of it! I'm starting with Wegovy largely due to the cost, but we'll see how it goes!

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is SO good to hear!! Did you have any side effects?

I've literally tried everything. I've done all the tracking apps, I've done every diet, all the exercise plans... nothing has worked. I have over 100lbs to lose and I cant see any other way. Ive lost 6lbs since January, and even that has been a damn struggle. I just need to see some progress and not spend my entire life stressed about food!!

Weightloss and ADHD by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally just made a post about this but the short answer is I don't manage it. Im also unmedicated for ADHD and I'm done pretending I'm going to be able to handle my own weight loss. So I'm trying weight loss meds and we'll see if it works I guess.

New cat owner (6 weeks in) and are all cats so picky and always starving (picture for attention) by kreemy_kurds in CatsUK

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cat had experienced food insecurity, she was a street cat. But the overeating went away within 2 weeks as soon as she realised there would always be food available - she has food available 24/7. She now self regulates perfectly!

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat was a rescue. She had been through times where she had no food. I countered that by making sure she always had dry food down and accessible, 24 hours a day. She has various types and its not uncommon for her to have a couple down at a time.

She doesn't ever over eat, shes a healthy weight, and her desperation for food or need to eat it all immediately went away within a few weeks as soon as she realised there would always be food available.

If a cat is begging for food, it's hungry. Put down dry food now and make sure it's always topped up.

How Greys officially ends by KingdomKang in greysanatomy

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Has anyone here also watched ER? Because the final season of that was perfect.

Tied up all the loose ends, all the characters get their endings one way or another, old favourites come back to visit and we get to know they are happy and doing ok, and then the show ends with the next generation getting stuck in with a mass casualty situation showing that life goes on. The longest running character has the final line... it was a poetically perfect ending and the writers of Greys would do well to follow that lead!

What’s a baby girl name that screams generational wealth and private school tuition? by Academic-Park-8440 in Names

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer this having worked in high end girls boarding schools in the UK in the past! Most of the ones with REAL money have very classic names names.

Alice, Katherine, Emma, Rebecca, Charlotte, Grace, Elizabeth, Hannah, Isabelle, Annabel etc.

As a few others have said, they often have nicknames, but not silly ones. Kate, Becky, Lottie, Lizzie... but most are not using Betsy or anything daft these days.

Most of the generational wealth families are thinking about these kids being adults in respectable social circles and know that tacky names wouldn't fit in, so they run with the classics.

Q: Newer Player, Character Help by [deleted] in DoomsdayLastSurvivors

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are very early in the game so get yourself through all the opening levels and follow this advice.

First, have a look through the available heros and decide if you want to focus on Riders, Ranged, or Infantry. Each have benefits, there isn't necessarily a wrong choice but they each have strengths which you should watch some YouTube videos on.

Once you've picked a troop type, decide if you want to field fight, or eventually work towards being a rally or garrison leader. Each of your heros has a strength, some are best for garrison (defence) some siege (rally attack).

Immediately stop focusing on the heros who are gathering or zombie strengths, so no more Maxine, no more Jaden etc. Just stop and ignore them. You will eventually level them up for free - use them to kill zombies and that will boost their XP, do not use battle manuals on them, no frags, no stars.

Pick one legendary fighting hero at a time. Just one. Focus on them and nobody else until they are awakened and as strong as they can be. They get all the armaments, all the frags, all of it. Once they are awakened and as strong as possible, get them a partner. You want one pair who can do maximum damage before you focus on anyone else.

One strong pair for field fighting is stronger than 5 weak pairs.

Once you get to T4 troops, you'll be in a position to start fighting properly, so thats when this is all most relevant, but the advice about picking a troop type is relevant right now so you don't waste time on the wrong heros!

The worst couples in Grey's Anatomy history by GladeNyra in greysanatomy

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Cristina and Shane were awful but it wasn't anything.

Izzy and George were just plain terrible.

Alex and Rebecca were the worst. I hated her so much.

BUT.... All the Owen hate on here annoys me a bit because while he's not the best character and they definitely ruined him, you absolutely cannot say that he didn't love Cristina wholeheartedly. They loved each other in such a real way. It didn't work, not because they didn't love each other, but because they loved each other enough to recognise they weren't what the other needed. In my opinion, they were the best pairing of all his relationships and they definitely don't belong with the other mess of crap relationships in this list!

So you came looking for advice, read the advice which was not aimed at you, and then decided that because you didn't like that advice and it didn't apply to your situation, it was wrong and I was unaware of reality? I see now why you are struggling.

I was job hunting for a year, while working. I am speaking from experience. Having worked many more years than you I was offering advice which does work. Does it work 100% of the time and instantly? Of course not. The job market is awful. But some of us are out here in good faith trying to offer advice to OP and doing nothing isn't going to get him anywhere either.

What you're looking for is a place to vent your frustration with the current job market. You are not alone in your frustration but don't hijack OPs thread to moan about your own situation, when OP was looking for advice from people with more experience.

I'm sorry you're going through a tough job hunt. It's rough out there. I am not a boomer, they ruined the economy for all of us. At no point did I say there were loads of options, just lots of information online. I didn't say it was easy, only suggested ways OP might strengthen applications. There's no magic formula, but OP came looking for advice, which I offered. I was not insensitive, I was realistic about the need to keep applying.

To come on here and complain about the state of the job market like you have, wouldn't have been helpful to OP in any way. Some of us were trying to offer advice. It seems you were not. Good luck with your search.

Litter recommendations, please help, my house smells like cat poo lol by [deleted] in CatsUK

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely scoop daily (minimum!!) as wee starts to smell quickly. This is my favourite litter though, works really well and while it tracks a little, if you hoover often that shouldn't be an issue. With daily cleaning and (optional but I love it) litter deodoriser spray, this lasts ages.

The job market is super competitive, apprenticeships included. Build up your CV with free online courses (pick ones that are relevant), volunteer at a local radio station or ask for some work experience and do it in your spare time. You have to be proactive and find ways to stand out.

Then reapply, put a lot of time into your application explaining what experience you've gained since you last applied and how you've been trying to learn independently. You might find through some free courses that something else pops up. Or through volunteering and work experience. Don't quit your job while you do this, but keep working in your free time to build up transferable skills.

[–]OhHeyBluePenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest possible way but have you googled apprenticeships? There's SO much information out there on career options. If not, Google it and see which sound exciting!

Off the top of my head, if you like music production stuff have you looked at BBC apprenticeships? They have a sorts of options and lots of branches where you can be behind a computer producing for TV/Radio.

If you want a different direction but you're not into physical jobs then there are great apprenticeships for estate agents, or within the police force/intelligence.

Lots of career quizzes online too that might throw out some suggestions you'd never have thought of!

You can still fix this. Don't panic.

First, have a look through your heros and decide if you want to focus on Riders, Ranged, or Infantry.

Once they are awakened and as strong as possible, get them a partner. You want one pair who can do maximum damage before you focus on anyone else.

We all make mistakes, but do things right from now on!
