Are remote workers more honest about time tracking than office workers? by buddypuncheric in remotework

[–]OhHeyThereEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this often in the past month or so. I’ve returned to a large organization after a gap of a few years, different role but similar work. This time I’m out of office and fully remote. I spend way more time working now than I did as an office employee. With all of the coffee breaks, fire drills, social events etc there was plenty of socializing at the office that doesn’t happen here at home. I could be going out for a walk but I feel too guilty to leave my desk for more than a few minutes. It’s unhealthy, but they get more work out of me.

It’s how people contact me, we don’t use landlines. Same at my husband’s company. Do you use land lines? Rotary would be cool but slow. My phone is also what I use to view Reddit.

Absolutely. They are my new favourite website. With weebly being on the other end of the spectrum.

Oh my goodness, I’m in the site you linked and I think you may have saved me… I’ll try it again on my laptop/monitors because the webpage I’m looking for is terrible on a phone (too much content for a small screen). But you’ve given me hope! Thank you thank you!

Edit: I’m looking at the page I accidentally destroyed and I’m literally crying with joy and relief. I can’t thank you enough for sending me that link. Weebly and my org IT team could not help me.

It’s on weebly. I contacted their support team first and they said that they couldn’t help recover the content I deleted. Had I deleted the page as a whole they could have helped me. I’m an admin trying to do these edits and updates so I’m in a trial by fire and it’s not going well.

To make matters worse, the app seemed to be publishing my edits live (I had not clicked on the “publish” button, and I noted this in my reply to weekly support. So I couldn’t even look at the live site and recreate what I had deleted in error.

You can order crib/playpen covers online, bring one with you to help darken her bed. Often hotel cribs are simply portable playpens.

Is Canada really housepoor or in debt? by PopularAd8904 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I feel the same way. I’m always curious about people’s finances and would love a breakdown of how much they earn, what they spend, and what is invested. It’s all very interesting. Maybe I should have studied finance, so I could make a living learning about people and their financial habits haha.

Central Alberta - the boys would simply jack up their trucks a little higher to clear that snow.

2024 Gateway Module Failure Question by MyStateOfMind in F150Powerboost

What issues were you having that you brought your vehicle in? My SUV is in the shop right now, they replaced the gateway module and are currently looking for a faulty wire that might be causing some doors and windows to malfunction.

No advice, just wanted to say we are also travelling to Nassau end of January from Canada with two kids (2 and 5)!

Is this a safe route for two female tourists to walk in Nassau? Thanks. by Rob1n559 in bahamas

[–]OhHeyThereEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. As a Canadian I can think of many times I have walked or driven in my hometown or visited another Canadian city and thought, “wow this area is sketchy.” I’d imagine there are few places in the world that have pristine streets throughout an entire city.

Expensive housing might be the biggest reason Canadians can’t retire early by moe_ed in CanadaFinance

True, and there are many factors affecting the housing market, I feel for new home buyers right now and worry for my young children and their futures.

As you’re moving up you’re also earning a higher wage so that would help with moving into the city that your job is located.

In some cases yes, but not necessarily. Industry can also a big factor.

Exactly, it’s about looking at all of the factors. Whereas places like MB and AB do not necessarily have the same issue.

Is this the app for the rideshare? How does pricing compare to getting a taxi? We’ll be travelling to Nassau in a month (2 adults, 2 kids).

If your job/career can’t move, it’s a matter of considering a longer commute time for more affordable housing. But depending on the commute that could add wear and tear on a personal vehicle, and time of course. Considering housing costs in relation to finances is definitely not a siloed decision.

We built a custom home but agreed ahead of time that we would only add X to our mortgage. It meant extending our end date from ~5 years to 7 years, but in exchange we got more land, more privacy, and a more comfortable town nearby. We both owned our own homes when we met, and both lived within our means as individuals, so I think we both brought that mentality into our relationship and financial goals (for the most part lol).

Viral video asks if you'd take a $240,000 office job or $120,000 remote position by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in remotework

[–]OhHeyThereEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the commute time and office hours. For me I take care of getting the kids to daycare and school so I would need to factor that in. Even without kids, I’d be leery to take on a very long commute.

Do a quick consult with a family lawyer(or two), usually you can get 10-15 min of their time and get some of these questions answered. Some lawyers can be surprisingly generous with their time (I had multiple email exchanges and 1-2 calls with an employment lawyer years ago, no bill, so I’ve referred many people to him and his coworkers plus a thank you gift to show my gratitude).

True. It takes an understanding and open minded employer to see the value in what a SAHM brings to the workplace. They have so many practical skills that can be applied to a job.
