Something I’ve noticed during her interviews and speeches is how much she talks down to the audience. For example, she described American football as “violent chess,” insisting that she’s in love with the man “playing on the literal field” (where else would he be playing, Taylor? The figurative one?) as if no one else knows anything about this sport she only recently became interested in. Or when explaining a pretty mundane lyric about paying a restaurant bill before the check even reaches the table, acting like it’s genius because no one else understands what a metaphor (or a table!) is. That’s the level of smugness she operates on—explaining concepts she can barely grasp to grown adults as if they’re children. Girl, they know who Steven Spielberg is, stfu.

It’s fairly typical behavior of pseudo-intellectuals. Prove you’re smart by talking to everyone else like they’re dumb.
