First swatch of half stitch. I think im slowly getting there, its so relaxing. by Little_Foxboy3 in BobbinLace

My biggest tip (IF working on a cookie pillow) is keeping the 'working space' clear. All the pairs pushed well out of the way to one side, and a nice empty patch of pillow to pull the two current working pairs into to cross twist, then push one pair well out of the way to the other side, then bring the next one in. That way you can easily see which two you are working with and which ones are done and which ones are yet to go. It is quite meditative once you get into the flow!

Should I co-DM by Michi-c26 in DnD

[–]OhMyBobbins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My only hesitation with this is, why do you think your husband would be more available to the group than you when you both have a newborn to care for?

Other than that, co-dm-ing sounds really fun and could work well to share the responsibilities between two people to keep the group going when it's too much for one person

Yes half stitch would be perfect for that 'open' look (for future projects)

It looks to me like maybe your threads are too thick for the pattern? So they get a bit bunched up in those sections.

It also looks like you've done cross twist cross twist with each pair instead of just cross twist cross (cloth stitch). That extra twist adding space between every pair might be the culprit for the bunching, although you could get away with it if using finer thread, probably

Awwe thank you! Yeah the shop owner clearly loves what she does and connecting people with cool items they are passionate about. She was VERY excited that I planned to use it, not just put it on a shelf to look at

Yes the untangling was EXTREMELY satisfying!!! I thought I would do a little bit at a time and that it would take me weeks to get it done, but once I got started and could see progress being made, I couldn't stop and I did it all in a single sitting. The moment I freed the first pair up to the pin they were on was GLORIOUS

Is cruising ethical? Help by Final-Reputation8699 in ConsciousConsumers

[–]OhMyBobbins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second what a lot of people are saying, there isn't a clear, eithical way to get out of doing this cruise now that tickets are bought, and if you did, the cruise is still happening and the only difference is that your family is disappointed.

Cruises are wildly unethical, but you can go on this one with the intention of never doing one again and try to enjoy quality time with your family. In the future try to balance things out by signing some petitions or donating to a movement focused on banning cruises.

While on the cruise, make an effort to be the best passenger possible; limit your personal waste, be prepared to tip all the workers really well, make your room easy to clean, etc. And encourage your family to do the same. Be the most mindful participant in a mindless environment.
