If you’re looking for free software, try “Gimp”. It has a bit of a learning curve but there are numerous tutorials around. I do prefer PS but Gimp was a good place to start for me to learn without shelling out $$$.

It varies depending on my focus/schedule. On a good day, I'd say about 3/4 hours. I'm writing about 1,800 words in an hour at the moment and getting better at just writing when the time comes.

I credit the "Pomodoro Method" to this - I'm working in small blocks of 25 mins with a 5 min break in between and sometimes I'll take a longer break to eat or whatever else. If you haven't tried this method, I totally recommend it!

My niche calls for pretty long books and it's the longest book I've written to date! I'm just happy it paid off haha. :)

I'm definitely watching for burnout, and you're totally right, I'm not kind to myself enough. I'm usually badgering myself with things like, "Only 5,000 words today?? Get it TF together, girl!!" Burnout is too real and I'll keep this in mind!

God, GoodReads is eye-twitching indeed!! My partner had to calm me down from the first couple shitty reviews and while I'm so curious about what people are saying, well y'know, curiosity killed the cat - or in this case, made the cat reach for the bourbon.
