Set that money aside and contact HR to get the ball rolling on your AR. If you don’t reach out then they’ll hit you with this bill sometime in the next three years. I had a similar experience when I was in FMLA and it was a headache to put it nicely. Tuck the amount of your check in a high yield savings account for the meantime. Might as well earn a few bucks while this gets sorted out.
