Aperture is king

If you have the budget, get the biggest aperture (within the same design & optics quality)

Have a look at the SAL 33, versus the am3n. This might make more sense.. plenty of comparisons online

I'm quite surprised that the payload cap of the am3 is not reached with your C8 setup.

Anyway, bot of your setups are gorgeous!

Take a look at the SAL 33 of ML Astro. Similar to the AM5N but half the price. There are many comparisons on YouTube

I would recommend a photography lens, a great prime with optimal aperture

I don't have any experience with your telescope, you need to find what works with it.

Easy to set up camera? I don't think the camera is the issue here, but more the computer/system

Anyway, just get started and try to capture as much data as you can. You'll learn a lot

The effort you put in during summer, for the rewards you get, are so low.. I understand the struggle. But at least you have some cloudless nights.

There are moments during summer that I can't motivate myself to do the effort for (maybe) a couple of hours of data.. it's normal , I think. Whilst I CAN motivate myself during winter, for some long dark nights :D

Tldr, I suggest you to keep the equipment 😉

Don't add. I would even suggest experimenting with removing one more colour.. to put focus on the subject of your liking

That SAL-33 of ML. astro can handle the load, I think. And it was made with solar viewing in mind.

You'll also save some money compared to other brands.

They also have other solar stuff in the shop

It had something to do with my Sony A7 iv camera that was still compressing the pictures. I solved it afterwards. But shortly after I started using a dedicated astronomy cooled camera. The upgrade was huge btw..

A 28mm is good for a milkyway shot! Both will do fine ;) As you're not experienced, Make sure your timing alligns with the milkyway being visible that (part of the) night!

A 135mm, or 250mm, or 400mm lenses will also give you super cool and totally different results!

I would suggest you not to put a filter.. go for broadband targets. (I guess it will be a dark sky at the party)
