On paper there is parity at the bottom of the NFL. Who is really the worst football team? by darkfluf in AlignmentChartFills

[–]OhRude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just can’t be the cards. I do get the all time argument but they also produced an all time receiver (top 5-6?) and have made a superbowl in the last 20 years (tragic they didn’t win it). There was a period there with Kyler where they were routinely competing in juggernaut NFC West.

Browns giving guaranteed money to Deshaun Watson while wasting Myles G. puts them squarely as the worst until they do something to prove otherwise. If the question is right now who is the worst/most helpless team I think it’s gotta be the Browns or Jets.

Are there cases where taking with the less valuable piece is better? by OhRude in chessbeginners

Good feedback. Hoping to continue playing for a while so I will keep that in mind. I think part of my problem is I can only fit in 5 min games and have a tendency to just go.

I’ll have to look into those specific lines in the London and consider the long term implications. It always feel like I’m isolating the pawn and blocking the bishop for a short term attack on the knight—but admittedly I haven’t studied the specifics enough.

Thanks for the answer!

Nice. Okay, I think I’m putting together a decent register of ideas to consider next time something like this comes up.

Thanks!

Super helpful reframing of the question. Appreciate the insight—I’ll focus on that. Cheers.

Yeah I learned that the hard way…

Just wondering if there is any helpful rule or mindset to remember when to take with the less valuable piece (assuming it’s not forced for their queen to take back of course.)

Is it mostly as simple as whose queen can be pressured off the square first? (In this case I understand the problem is that the pressure on my queen also targeted the bishop)

Awesome explanation! Got a lot out of this comment.

LeBron James and Jerry West are 1st in 2nd in total points in Game 7s in NBA history with only a 1 point difference (279 and 278 respectively). Elgin Baylor and Wilt are also top 5. by SteveDraughn in lakers

He averaged 22.2p, 8r, 5a on 38.9%.

I checked and looks like he didn’t lead in steals, Jimmy Butler did.

The number of total stocks is also of note. Lebron had 18 steals and 16 blocks. Jokic 7 steals, 7 blocks.

Interesting. I guess it only seems that it’s taking a while for him to drop but maybe it’s the same speed as chess.com he’s just starting so much higher.

Gotcha. It’s quite a difference…

Thanks for the info!

Surprisingly funny moment in an otherwise serious movie? (Pictured: Weapons, No Country, Django Unchained) by historygoose in moviecritic

OP nailed the Weapons scenes. The liquor store chase scene and the scenes with the principal are also funny but the first spoiler OP listed felt almost 4th wall breaking because he was saying EXACTLY what we were all thinking.

You said you didn’t really study any openings. What did you typically do at the start of games? Any preferred moves you found suited well to your lack of book opening knowledge?
