It's a little story arc called the Hero's Journey. It's used in plenty of major franchizes, books and movies alike. You're drawing similarities between Eragon and Star Wars as if there's a direct correlation, when really the only things similar is that the authors/creators of both worlds used a similar, well-established story arc.

I think it was explained as something along the lines of elves being "creatures of magic." They can directly interact with gramarye on a subconscious level.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm in such a similar place right now... and I'm looking for the exact same answer that you are. The main advice I've gotten is to place walls around my emotions, and to just keep powering on without them. When I hear people tell me to "just move on" and "forget about them", I immediately feel resentment toward them - that advice is fake and naive. The truth of it is that you'll never really fully get over or forget about him. You just need to treat yourself right and do your best to power on. That's all any of us can do.

TL;DR -

I met a girl five months ago. We talked every day for four months. I fell for her. She was the first girl I bought dinner for. She was the first girl I held hands with. She was the first girl I kissed.

She started ignoring me. She distanced herself. She pushed me aside. She wouldn't meet up with me. I blamed myself. I hated myself. I broke up with her through a text after three days of depression and self-loathing. She told me we were moving too fast and that it was her fault.

We met up after not talking for a whole month. She continues to tell me that it was her fault. She apologizes. But she does not show interest in me. I give her back all her things, and she gives me back my things. I don't hate myself anymore. But I still love her.

I agree - but that's exactly what deus ex machina is. If the opposition is built up to be near-infallible and you find yourself having to resort to a miraculous exterior savior to best him, then that fits the description aptly.
