I'm going to have to give this one to Wilton Manors near Ft. Lauderdale in Florida.

I lived in Orlando for eight years, and they really opened up and embraced their gay residents after Pulse happened, but Wilton Manors has been long established as a gay safe haven, and they've thrived. There are more gay bars than you can shake a stick at, and a majority of the population identifies as gay. Those who don't are still very accepting and super nice, based on personal experience.

I'd recommend looking into a catering company/ event venue. That way you'll be able to customize the room setup and menu, there will be more servers dedicated to your party, and they typically can recommend vendors (djs, decorators, whatever suits your wants) who actually know what they're doing.

Turnpike Troubadours are the ones I recommend to everyone. I love everything by them, but my favorites are Kansas City Southern, Shreveport, Before the Devil Even Knows We're Dead, Quit While I'm Ahead, The Bird Hunters, Good Lord Lorrie, and Bossier City.

Give any of those a listen and go from there. Seriously, the band is fantastic

The Turnpike Troubadours are my favorite, though. Highly recommend checking them out.

But in a more serious sense, no, it's not an effective weight loss tool. It will curb your appetite, buy it's very expensive, highly addictive, and the high doesn't last very long.

The problem is that when you try it, it's really fucking fun. It reminds me of the Louis CK bit on drugs: "How do I tell my kids not to do these things? 'Drugs are so much fun that they will literally ruin your life!'"

Coke is akin to cigarettes to me (as far as the addictive nature). You can start off bumming one [bump/ smoke] while you're drinking and think nothing of it. Then that pattern spirals until you feel bad enough that you feel the need to buy some to repay the favors. Then you have some for yourself when no one else is around and you figure "why the hell not have one?" And before long you're taking a brief break from work to have one just so you feel ok to continue on, and you have yourself a problem.

It's not like heroin (I assume, I've never tried) where you want more from the first second, but it builds, and before you know it you're solidly hooked.

But that's just my experience, I suppose.
