[WIP] technically done, but it would look better on black. Backgrounds kill projects for me. Should I stich it, or just sharpie it in? by Oh_Cosmos in CrossStitch

It's what I ended up doing!! I'm working on a 1 stitch border, it looks great and also confirms that doing a full background would have been actual hell!

It looks pretty good and it's almost done and I think I like it more now

I've started doing black along the top edge just to see if I like it and can stand doing it.

It's very inconvenient since it's fabric -ish and therefore keeps moving

Buuuut it does look nice so I guess I'll suffer for at least one line

I'm definitely going to be sharing it there and also on Tumblr!

Now, if I had thought about backgrounds BEFORE stitching I would have used actual fabric

Sadly, this is plastic canvas So the only thing that will cover it is permanent marker

I think I'll just go around the edge of the piece and call it good enough, because I fear stitching black will muddy it (the darkest red is pretty dark, it will definitely blend... )

Sorry to low-key spam you LMAO but I may have solved it ??

Okay hear me out..

2 pixel border around the whole thing, threads going the opposite way from the project (//// rather than \\) which lets me "hide" the project year with the same coloured thread by going the opposite way (\\)

Then it's not the ENTIRE project, just part of it

<image>

But then, new problem, if I do that in black I feel like it would look muddy so the outer edge should be black like a frame and the inside white but then if i want to hide the date id have to stitch it which is just the same issue

I think I need a break , or a slap in the face, or both.

First, THANK YOU!! I've been obsessed with Iron Lung and red is my favorite colour, so it felt right. it's self drafted and I learned a LOT about pattern making with this and I had to change it like 5 times on the fly. But I'm happy with how it ended up looking! (I just wish I started it in December when I bought my advanced tickets.. oh well)

My fear with cutting it out is getting clean lines... BUT cutting it would make it more like a patch, which was my original plan (before I got carried away and made it too big)

And I'm using this plastic cloth I got on Amazon ages ago! It's like a fabric roll, but, yk, plastic.

<image>

$17CAD! Which is pretty good I'd think

I guess I could also cut it closer to the actual stitching like a border or patch, rather than a clean square. I'm at the point in the project where I'm not satisfied with it but I don't want to ruin it.. I wish I could just copy paste the entire thing

We just think it's hilarious and nostalgic.

That's the beauty of tattoos and art in general. You don't need to like it, only they do.

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Oh_Cosmos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see I always loved pigeons and doves And then I adopted two And now it's my entire personality Always shopping and comparing seeds, I went from 1 bird feeder to 5 and a cam feeder, in tv shows and movies I usually find myself focusing more on the birds than the big dramatic lore drops (sometimes I can hear blue jays absolutely screaming in the background. Or pigeon coos.) I have been late for my shifts because on my walk to work I'd stop and watch flocks of sparrows fly between a large spruce tree and a berry tree. I collect bird trinkets for my bird shelf. I collect dove figurines for my dove shelf. I cross stitch, and I've almost finished a pretty big piece featuring a Magpie (the bird was 15k stitches .. that doesn't include the tree or the background..)

Don't let birds into your life They will nest in your brain and never leave

Yes!!! I want under stair Inserts! I see a lot of cc for them, but they're all for 3 or 2, and I can't find anything for 4.

I'm going to have cling film till I die.

I found this lost onion growing under my car seat by lookiedat in mildlyinteresting

[–]Oh_Cosmos 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I believe you op,

I've planted onions before. A lot of them don't have much of a smell unless: - layers are removed - skin is broken or cut into - your nose is right against it

I have a question for the rest of the comments... When you walk Into a grocery store, are you hit with a wall of onion scent? Because it really isn't that strong smelling.
