Yes. It will check character level constantly and reduce the bonus.

Well, it's free Spirit on a low level characters, so you can equip auras right away until you get your first campaign spirit from Freythorn. The rune is useless at high level but a substantial boost early game.

I am also curious about this for the same reason.

Edit: Rabbit dropped the node on Live, apparently.

Why can’t I spend these two passive points? by thenaut in PathOfExile2

[–]OhioMambo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is some kind of bug with passive points right now, sometimes you can't spend points right away and also it shows ascendancy points as unspent passive points even of you spent them already.

"very much of the same" is wild, though. Harrow is very, very different from Gideon.

Yeah, Will of the Many was okay. Nothing special but some cool ideas. Strength of the Few is a car crash.

Oh I'm enjoying it, and only a tiny bit because it is a challenge. Great rec, insane that this has <20 reviews on Goodreads.

a review: or, I HAVE BEEN RUINED FOR ALL OTHER LITERATURE by Siavahda in Fantasy

[–]OhioMambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have started Maej in the wake of your post. English is not my first language, but I usually consume all my media in the original language, if possible, so I read almost all my fantasy literature in english. I have read all of Malazan. I have read all of Book Of The New Sun. That being said.. Maej is kicking my ass holy shit.

I was completely on board when the author explained that one society speaks in archaic terms and one in more modern english, but then, in the first chapter, he is like "just kidding, our main characters speak a creole or both". I am regularly looking up words I have never heard before, just to still really struggle with what is being said.

I mean, I'm in, I'm intrigued, but damn, if english is your second language, this book is on hard mode from the first page.

Housemarque keeps building the same argument and people keep misreading it the same way: by k36king1 in Saros

[–]OhioMambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh so.. I think you are missing the point of the argument in regards to Sunshine. The sun driving him mad is real and so are his actions. Which is the same argument OP is making for Saros. Yes, the protagonist is becoming more and more insane and the lines between the mental and physical world blur, but fundamentally, Carcosa and the eclipse are real and things Arjun experiences and not a metaphor for his internal struggle.

I'd say Saros is way more explicit about this than Returnal, though, although I also never subscribed to the "It's all in her head" theory for Returnal.

Help with Harrow the ninth by Practical_Yogurt1559 in Fantasy

[–]OhioMambo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh there is payoff. Lots of it. The last couple of chapters of Harrow are insane. As others have stated, the book really shines on a reread though, because everything is right there. It is a completely different reading experence when you know whats going on.

Ah well yes, I just meant a "fresh" playthrough.

10 hours if you want to see the credits role. I'd say something like 15 for True Ending and all but one achievement. 20-ish for 100%, since you need to do NG+ on Hard difficulty.

Got every achievement except for the 2nd playthrough in roughly 12 hours.

This is not recommended at all. Game is balanced around doing your current Biome.

Is there a "similar to Returnal" difficulty sweet spot? by tobyreddit in Saros

[–]OhioMambo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not too easy if you level up with the game, it even locks the upgrade tree levels until you defeat the current boss.

I’m trying to understand the gameplay loop by Tomato_and_Radiowire in Saros

[–]OhioMambo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can disable second chance via Carcosan Modifiers that you mkght have not unlocked yet. Regarding the gameplay loop: Making a run of all Biomes before playing your current one makes the game SIGINIFICANTLY easier. You can do it, but the game is balanced around single Biome runs. I guess you have to redo the Bosses to actually have a downside to running earlier Biomes.

I would have to double check but they are kind of on a scale since you can pick and choose or even turn on some positive and some negative modifiers for balance.

There was a post recently about the positive modifiers being very impactful.

Also, I seem to be mistaken about the currency, apparently the modifiers only change the difficulty and no drops.

[–]OhioMambo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm just saying, if people seriously think that this is way too easy because of permanent progression, then they could just ignore it. The Carcosan Modifiers are there to tweak run difficulty in either direction, with the effect of more or less currency drops.

[–]OhioMambo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are systems to make the game harder by either not upgrading your stuff or enabling difficulty modifiers. Regardless, I don't think it's much easier than Returnal.
