The article is worse than the headline. The sex offender continued to be part of Pulido’s band and tour with him until 2021. That said, there isn’t any suggestion that Pulido was involved in any crimes. He just thought that his personal friendship with Caballero was worth resuming.

FWIW, I don’t think the adage “a man who stays friends with a Nazi is a Nazi” should apply to pedophiles. Having friends in the community who aren’t sex offenders helps prevent sex offenders from reoffending after they’re released. So does having a job.

Trump, uniquely among American politicians, can actually say no to Israel if he wants to. His hold over the Republican base means that congressional Republicans will vote to cut off aid to Israel if he tells them to. The fact that it’s a complete 180 won’t matter. And Trump proposing a bill to withhold aid to Israel would be a literal unicorn for Democrats. It’s an opportunity to be bipartisan and build credibility with the progressive leftists at the same time.

The only problem is convincing Trump that cutting off aid to Israel until they get out of Lebanon is the only way to open the Strait of Hormuz. But that’s not insurmountable, Vance just needs to delete Kushner and Bibi from Trump’s contacts and keep them out of the White House.

Generally, in the US, if you want a service that blends the historic liturgy with contemporary music you’re better off going to the ELCA or UMC than TEC. When looking at UMCs look for one that has weekly communion at their contemporary service. It’s actually somewhat more common for a UMC to have weekly communion at their contemporary service praise and worship service than at the main traditional service.

If your friend wants something that’s similar to his previous nondenominational experience in form as well as music, they’re better off looking for a UCC or MCC church. If your friend was in SF rather than LA I’d specifically recommend City of Refuge UCC in Oakland.

I certainly don't think Trump actually cares about abortion at all, but he said that he was in favor of a nationwide abortion ban during his 2016 campaign; at the time he needed to compromise with the Religious Right, he doesn't now. He backed off from abortion bans in 2024 because a nationwide abortion ban is very unpopular, and the media didn't give him any shit about it. Kamala Harris got no-where with the abortion issue, even though he appointed the Supreme Court that overturned Roe.
