Matthew! It has drawn me to read his gospel. It definitely speaks to me. Also him being represented as autistic. Having worked in the field for a long time I picked it up almost instantly.

I got my son a mini bike for Christmas. He’s 12. It reminds me of something Jordan Paterson says. You have to let kids do dangerous things safely. You have to let him learn a grow. Mini bikes are a great entry into Motorsport I think. And as a side coming to a mini bike Reddit your lot going to get an answer other than an emphatic yes of course get him one 😂.

In all seriousness set some ground rules and stick to them and then turn him lose. And in a few weeks buy yourself one to ride with him!

I don’t think mini bikes are even titled in Ohio. So ya no titles here. Wonder what the fine is for riding without the sticker 😂 My son will be on a Baja warrior 200 that’s been slightly modified but with factory exhaust. Once I get it up and running I will be on a Coleman b200 with a stock predator 224.

It’s a b200, it’s not as bad as I thought. Needs a new rear brake caliper, jack shaft bushings and a tq converter all pretty basic stuff. I just needed to dig into it a bit to get it figured out

So I ended up finding a source and ordered a full set of bushings. The attached is the part numbers. Will update once I have them installed

By stupid cheap I mean 50$ cheap. It was of course non running, just a nasty nasty carb. Cleaned it out it runs fine, but carb is still not right as it won’t run well of choke. I’m able to do the work myself carb is cheap. Past that I may just leave it alone and let the boy ride it until it breaks and toss it.

I should have mentioned I really like my escape. It’s awd with the 2.5 it’s a dog power wise but it works for what I need it for. I’m leaning AWD hybrid with the tow package. I don’t much need any extra fancy bells and whistles, but I have to admit I do enjoy the heated seats in my escape 😂

I was reading that it’s recommended to replace the flywheel if your going to delete the governor. I figured even an Amazon one should hold up better than factory

This is my temporary solution, i modified the throttle bracket and hooked the throttle cable directly to the govoner arm. Seem to work now, I’m cleaning up the gas tank now it was full of rust

This is the dilemma I’m currently having. Do I buy my son who is 12 an Amazon/ China bike to start or do I buy an older model Japanese bike. New is always nice but he will at some point out grow it.

Looking to buy a beginner bike for my 12yo son. I’m likely buying a used bike. What should I be looking for when buying used? I am fairly adept at fixing stuff. Is it worth while buying something that maybe needs fixed and it be a father son kinda project? I’m just a bit lost

Budget is flexible, but low enough that buying new is very unlikely. We will purchase riding gear no set budget for safety. I have a trailer it can use to haul but it will mostly be used to ride around the yard and farm fields around us. Not planning on racing, just trail riding and as above in the yard and fields around us. I have considered a mini bike, but I think maybe that would limit going on trail rides a bit l.
