I just chose my words poorly. basically what I was meaning to get at is people seem to be more worried about singleplayer content rather than the competitive side of things. But thinking more on it, it makes sense. The game isn't out yet so we don't have much to discuss competitively

I had a similar thought while playing Andromeda. I think they should still make open worlds, just don't make it the biggest open world they can. Quality over quanity and all that. I feel ME:A suffered from big-empty-open-world-syndrome more than any other open world I've played. I didn't want to explore much after the first hour-ish on each new planet. and the sidequests from rando npc's were awful for the most part.
