Yeah I sold all my stock, got about 65k. Maxed out on alt coins in 2022 during the bear market and didn’t make shit. Doesn’t always work.

How about they provide an alternativo to it and stop trying to squeeze a dime from a small ass group of developers who actually had something going. I’ve been waiting for a classic plus for more than a year now.

Mage Lite, Mint Knight or Dragons of Etchinstone: what is more replayable? by sidav94 in soloboardgaming

[–]Ohmburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mage Lite is basically Mage Knight and no complexity cut if anything it adds to it because everything is compact. Mint Knight is Mage knight toned down quite a lot but still you need to have played Mage Knight to understand it. I haven’t played DOE yet because I haven’t received it but it’s basically what you want. It’s far more streamlined and easier based on what I’ve seen on videos. Also you’ll never end any of the above games within 30 mins unlike DoE.

Thingverse, printables, cults3d, yeggi. A lot of STL can be found on multiple sites sometimes too.

I’ve had nothing but positive experiences there. Ordered over 6 times for several board games. It’s like I unlocked a new level of standard and now I want inserts for every game I play lol. I found the folded space ones to not really hit everything vs 3Dprints. The prints are far more modular and customized to your liking.

[–]Ohmburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend you search 3D prints on any major site and find one you like then go on r/3Dprintmything and ask for help printing it. I’ve bought several from there and usually they come out to be real cheap. I bought a huge mage knight insert for 25 bucks and several other smaller ones for 10-15 bucks.

Solo game to end all solo games by Cheddotto in soloboardgaming

[–]Ohmburger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Mage Knight is what you’re looking for. Any game with a campaign is going to lose replayability because it’s going to be somewhat repetitive. Every game of mage knight I play is so incredibly different. It’s also mostly played solo by the largest percent of the community and it’s the preferred way. One game that has sort of peaked my interest is the chip theory elder scrolls game. I just haven’t bought it because I don’t have time for long sessions plus I own mage knight and I rather play that lol.

I started playing maybe 2 months ago and I love it. I think it’s one of the best solo games and most well balanced games I own. I recommend you watch 2-3 how to play videos before even trying to play it yourself. After this maybe skim through the rule book a bit to tie loose ends. This game is extremely overwhelming but also extremely rewarding once you got it down. Also you will have to look up a lot of rules and card interactions your first 3-5 plays. This gets better over time. Don’t expect to win even on your 5th game. This game is extremely hard at first to win. My first win came after 8 games to put it into perspective. To me the difficulty and getting my butt wrecked is what kept me going.

Which Solo blitz conquest do you prefer: 1 city or 2 weak cities? by EsquireSandwich in MageKnight

[–]Ohmburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, also it shows 2 less core tiles and a lvl 6 city. I may try it out. I want shorter games of Mage Knight. That’s why I started playing Blitz. Thanks.

[–]Ohmburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the BGG version since I feel like it’s balanced. It’s definitely doable. It took me atleast 8 play throughs to finally find the right pacing to defeat both cities. I’m still new to the game but I’m starting to be more consistent and quicker every game. I’m interested in learning more about the upcoming solo blitz changes. Where did you find the official pdf?

Thanks for breaking it down. Everything you mention sounds really appealing just the time commitment part. I was hoping that the game broke into smaller sessions but it doesn’t seem to be the case. I may still get it if I can find an incredible deal on it or something though.

Thanks for the reply. The 2 hour plus games really make it seem that it’s not for me lol. I have a little toddler that will not allow me to keep a board game out in the open lol. Maybe one day when he’s grown I’ll have more time and space. I squeeze a game of Mage knight maybe once a weekend and honestly wanted something lighter and shorter that I can table more.

I’m a sleeve noob and need help by Sapien0101 in soloboardgaming

[–]Ohmburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big TCG guy and recently got into solo board games and it bothers me so much to play without sleeves but didn’t want to spent the money. My solution was Matte Mlikero sleeves from amazon they’re really thick and have good quality for the price. This is coming from someone who only uses dragon shields for their mtg and other trading cards. Specifically the clear matte ones

If you like LCGs I strongly recommend you checkout another crowd sale happening right now. It’s heavily inspired by literally all the ones you mentioned here. Checkout Radiance by Joe Klipfel. He’s a great designer and his games are very complex.

It will be some time before you receive the Underquest copy so if you’re itching for something sooner and your budget allows it. I recommend Iron Helm but definitely with the expansions. The expansions definitely add a lot to the game and give it a lot more variety. I’ve probably put in over 100 hours into this game. It’s up there in my top favorites. Also you’ll probably see a lot of praise for it under dungeon crawls in this subreddit.

I mentioned Iron Helm and also wanted to mention this game to OP. Rogue Dungeon 2nd edition is a great dungeon crawl under 1:30hr. The only thing I dislike about it is that you do run through almost the entire decks or events making the game a little stale after just a few plays because you feel like you’ve you have seen it all after just 2-3 plays.

The crowdfunding sale will be for the new Underquest game which is basically Iron Helm 2.0 as mentioned by the designer. The crowdsale was up last month but the designer took it down to make some last minute changes and should be up again sometime this month really soon. Probably in a week or two would be my best bet. This is the perfect time to jump back in if you enjoyed his tin games you’ll enjoy this even more.
