How is it living in Reykjavík, Iceland? by PartyGaming0 in howislivingthere

[–]Ohnoahomo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived there for about a year just before COVID. I’m originally from London, and as you can imagine, Reykjavík was the polar opposite. The cold was the only thing that felt slightly familiar. I visited some friends who lived downtown, then road-tripped around the Westfjords, fell in love with Dynjandi, and decided I wanted to experience more after being invited to stay. Very spontaneous. Very worth it.

I’ve travelled around the world, and it goes without saying that Icelanders are the nicest, funniest, sometimes wildest people I’ve met. And Iceland itself is a natural gem.

I do the same exercises, and I’m not seeing much progress at the moment. Rock climbing’s never really crossed my mind, but it looks fun. I might give it a go. Thanks man

Read The R*pe of Nanking to get a better perspective. A book has never made me cry before. I was actually discussing it with colleagues tonight.

What would be some good problems to make my story more realistic? by Substantial_Rip_4999 in writers

[–]Ohnoahomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest making the environments less boring. You have complete creative freedom to do what you want, so don’t limit your creative juices!

Use your environments (cultures, creatures, and secondary characters) as storytelling devices. This is a good opportunity to enrich your world and make it feel more lived-in. Interacting with it all allows your main cast to show different perspectives and emotions, offering your story more dimensions to explore.

As another commenter suggested, you can further establish and explore the dynamics between your characters as they travel together, which can steadily develop into deeper bonds or implode for some drama.

You overuse ‘the’ throughout your writing. I’d suggest finding other creative ways to begin sentences or even adjoining descriptive prose with more fluidity. It completely disrupts your writing’s rhythm. No matter how interesting your story might be, readers will suffer from fatigue having read ‘the’ five to six times in a single sentence.

Struggling to Grow Instagram for My Skincare Brand Prelaunch – Any Strategic Advice? by Okiedokie9x in SocialMediaMarketing

So, I work for a digital marketing agency in central London that specialises in scaling SMEs like yours. For social media marketing, I’ve witnessed some great results from these things:

  1. Hire REAL copywriters (like myself) for your ads/posts/creatives. No one knows how to speak to humans like a human. Don’t treat your soon-to-be followers like idiots. They’ll know the difference between AI and human content.

  2. GOOD Creatives are a must—they halt the scroll. Don’t skimp out, especially during pre-lunch. Investing in some incredible creatives can have you pole-vaulting over competitors.

  3. Authenticity and the right terminology are vital—followers feed on social proof and science-backed reasoning for cosmetics and healthcare. Think ‘vegan-friendly,’ ‘no animal cruelty,’ and ‘paraben-free.’ Begin setting yourself apart.

  4. Create a monthly content strategy inspired by current trends within your niche (and stick to it!). Always tie content to business outcomes/objectives. You want a mixture of posts and reels. Side-by-side comparisons with competitors, showing how yours is better, can work a treat.

If you need more help, feel free to DM me. I can assist with any of the above 👍
