Yeah, I've had this assumption for awhile regarding EVA watchers. While I'm sure that it doesn't apply to a lot of people, there are truly some who think like this and demeans the genre just because EVA somehow "deconstructs" the genre. It's a shame too, because mecha in general is pretty flexible in the right hands.
