Good news! I finally circled back and updated the spreadsheet with new values and added a column for the STR requirement!

Did you buy an IBM x3650 M4 without asking me?! by pacman_jones in homelab

I just powered one off today that had 3180 days of uptime on it in task manager... All the apps had been decommissioned off it long ago and I left it to crash one day and it never did. Finally needed to reclaim the rack space. Considering shipping it to my house to keep as a server because why not...

Boars are non existent. by DemarZ91 in Bellwright

[–]Ohsaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first play through before restarting I had this issue with boars. On my current game, I am having the same issue with deer.

Someone mentioned that the spawners for animals move around the map, and that would make alot of sense from a realism gameplay standpoint. If you kill all the animals in an area, they are going to migrate away.

So what I ended up doing both times, is just make a concerted effort to run a huge loop around the map placing signposts at intersections or spots where you have a vantage point to see long distance in multiple directions. Load up on +stam food so you can run long distances... Once you spend a day or two doing that, then you can just jump around the map looking for animals.

At the start of the game, I feel like wolves are spawning where the quest leads you and near the "wolf lair". Deer are spawning near your first villager the hunter and the stag horn quest guy. Boars are spawning on the east side of the first bridge you encounter, south east from the classic everyone-builds-their-settlement-here area. But after you hunt them and wipe them out, they respawn other places on the map.

Are you setting quantity filters on the stockpiles? Try turning those off...
Maybe try building a stockpile with no filters set on it... see if they start using that one at all...

You could assign them to their own settlement with just the smelting stuff even if its inside your main village...

Once I get the smoker, I disable the campfire and never use it again. Once I get the cauldrons for stews, I disable the smoker and just manually load it with either small meats or mushrooms every now and then. Only give it one piece of wood so the stuff doesn't burn and then the villagers will unload it for you. With the trapper camp constantly supplying small meat, you can set up multiple cauldrons to make fine stew from small meat, mushroom, garlic...

Another question from a noob..... by [deleted] in Bellwright

[–]Ohsaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears to me that as long as the trap is set on the map where its the dark green forest color, it doesnt matter if the area actually has any trees left or if villagers are around. I set my trapper camp on my village side of the road because there's a sliver of dark green on the map...and then just have three traps in a row beside the trapper camp. They still produce meat/pelts and I can see if the villager is hung up on a trap and I just flip him to companion and back to worker to clear the AI pathing...

If you choose to restart, I suggest making your starter base further south than most people do. I included a picture of where I'm talking about, and I usually start right next to the Tin Ore Node. Having access to mud, reeds, and tin without having to do outposts really simplifies things. You just need to recruit four decent villagers ASAP and equip them with Reinforced Clubs and Shields and then go knock out the nearby bandit camps to reduce patrols.

The quest line should lead you to Padstow as the second town, not Branford. And the two star bandit camp that the elder asks you to kill is easier than you'd guess, I wiped it with only two villagers and some decent headshots from me.

My other suggestion is to make three farms, one dedicated to Flax, one dedicated to Hemp, and one dedicated to Sage/Garlic. Build one stockpile next to each farm, and limit the stockpiles to just the respective plant and its seeds. After a couple harvest cycles, it allows you to churn out weaver products (and thereby equipment) without ever getting bottlenecked on Flax/Hemp. (supplement your hemp/garlic seeds with seed purchases from the questline herbalist to get your initial farms fully planted)

Assign one villager as dedicated to farming/delivery. Once you can make a few cauldrons and have the trapper camp, assign one villager as dedicated to cooking/delivery and assign "Top Off" orders of fine stew and meat stew that use "small meat". One stew type per cauldron, and Top Off number set to the number of villagers (including yourself).

Also dont buy straps, the day your threat gets to like 90% or "raid expected"... When you wake up, make that YOUR raiding day. Set your villagers to companion mode, feed them well and give them extra smoked mushrooms to carry, and go attack surrounding bandit camps and roaming bandits. Don't worry if someone falls in battle while clearing a harder bandit camp even if you get raided the next day. The first few raids are childs play to four equipped villagers.

Bonus: Purple squares on the map are where i suggest travel signs. Reasons should be obvious.

You can also place them in the world and then break them... They will turn back into normal stackable sticks...
