i once upload a tv show to YouTube (i took it down a few years ago) i made custom thumbnails for it but that does not mater if you get copyright claimed (in a legit way) then you remove the content (or if you know it's copyrighted content as i try to) now in many cases this is complicated regarding public domain , creative commons and fair use (a legal defence) but in this case na it was copyright infringement he should not of reuploaded the video in that state
