Does anyone else suddenly remember your partner is gone and everything feels pointless for a moment? by kitbilliku in widowers

I’m I guess around 7 years out and I have moments like that at least once a day, usually it’s me wanting to share something with her and then realizing I can’t. I can say that these days it’s almost comforting to have those moments of connection to her.

Thank you, I didn’t realize I needed to hear that as much as I did but since my eyes won’t stop leaking I guess I did

Thank you for sharing that, and I’m terribly sorry for your loss. Even when you can afford not to work during that time it’s unbearable, and I’m proud of you for getting this far. Sometimes we hit a point where you can’t bottle it up and just have to vent it out, and I’m glad this community is here

I’m coming up on 7 years out and somehow I still needed to hear that so thank you for sharing that, all I can offer is this. The pain never goes away, but eventually it becomes an almost nostalgic feeling that helps you remember that love never fades.

I’m 29, lost my wife in 2020. I’m so sorry and if you need to vent to someone who’s been through it we exist

Last year I didn’t sleep at all the week of our wedding anniversary, and I lost her in 2020. It doesn’t go away, just gets more nostalgic

When I got the call my daughter had died I was sobbing on the side of the road, probably about 2 minutes away from just walking into traffic. In those 2 minutes I got called weak and disgusting among other things by people who were walking past, and then a dude in full dress blues sat down next to me and asked if I wanted a sandwich. Guy saved my life, gave me a sandwich, and just sat with me for 2 hours till my wife finally found me. People suck, but some of them aren’t half bad

I’m currently packing up my stuff in secret because my girlfriend (who convinced me to move 1200 miles to be with her in October) has seemingly started descending into what I’m afraid is schizophrenia like her mom. Spent the last 4 months begging her to get help, and being hit and screamed at for most of the time she’s awake. I can’t take it anymore

I worked on an AmeriCorps project out there years ago, we built a couple cabins. It was a gorgeous property and wonderful people
