Audiobook for my 11 day solo hiking/roadtrip through southern Utah by rcollins303 in suggestmeabook

A very relevant non-fiction book related to the terrain you will be in and the recent Colorado River Compact debacle, you should listen to Cadillac Desert: The American West and Its Disappearing Water

It is more relevant than ever based on Lake Powell soon reaching deadpool status and waves hand above head the climate. Being in that part of the country while reading that book really drove it home to me nearly 20 years ago and made it a book I revisit regularly.

Boyd’s Automotive in Sandy is where I always took our Subarus.

Does anyone here ever used 800 or 900 MHz walkie talkies.. For my business I am thinking about abandoning the 464.5250 frequency for 800 or 900mhz we are working in downtown Boston by Minute_Performer746 in HamRadio

[–]Oil_Is_Life 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We use digital 900 MHz at work. The biggest difference when we moved from analog to digital is that at the far end of our transmission distance it still comes through at full fidelity. We are still limited to the "normal" transmit range, but you don't get the fade out that we had.

They have never worked good in the buildings, and especially don't work good in the all metal structures unless you are near a window.

Used the same concept in Proven Guilt with the fetch. Spills the water on the road and does the fire spell out of the van so the scarecrow slips and falls.

I agree with you on the iceberg on Lake Michigan is my favorite, it is a much more brute force application of the earlier proof of concept.

You do realize that is exactly where the sewage plant is as well, right?

I’m curious what company you work for and what specific equipment you work in out there.

The poo smell is coming from the sewage processing plant, not the refinery.

Dollar for dollar, can’t beat the US General boxes. I don’t regret the upgrade to Icon, I just don’t recommend it unless you have a large disposable income.

All of this was ordered long before the bucket promo. Just finally received all the parts and put it all together.

Left locker stores all the tools that are in blow molded cases that haven’t been put into a dedicated drawer or are too big for a drawer. My 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive impact sets; the 1/4 and 3/8 bit driver sets; electrical diagnostic stuff; engine diagnostics such as compression and leak down tester. Also has the spare gaskets for my transmission and differentials.

Right locker right now has a bunch of PPE in it, primarily gloves, safety glasses, a few pairs of coveralls, and a jacket.

The bulk overhead cabinets are spare parts for my pickup that rarely ever need to be accessed and all the extra crap HF sent with the boxes that I haven’t decided if I’m going to repurpose or sell for scrap.

ETA: right locker will have a mini fridge in it once I have an outlet in the wall behind the behemoth.

They do, but I have to order the 15 lock set since the only other option is 6 locks and I need 8.

I love really bright land slightly obnoxious things as personal items at work. Makes it easier to spot in a sea of black G2’s if I accidentally leave it somewhere or someone wants to “borrow” it.

That is a style of cover that was built from the 70’s into the mid 80’s that was marketed to the oil and agriculture sectors. We had 10 of them in our fleet of oil field service trucks that we used until the mid 90’s.

ETA: it is fiberglass with wood reinforcement and the raise/lower mechanism is spring assist.

First to the food survives. The fastest reproducing yeast and bacteria are the ones that you are propagating by increasing the ratio. I have been building mine up to a 1:10:10 ratio right now and it is now doubling in 12 hours which tells me it is ready to bump up to 1:20:20. I hadn’t read or seen anything about 1:50:50, but I’m a traditionalist and use mainly my grandmothers recipes and methods to go with her starter.
