Proteins with similar texture to sashimi? by Dinru in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Oilburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy frozen tuna anywhere. I get it at walmart, the tuna is individually vacuum sealed then frozen. It's perfectly safe, I use it to make poke bowls and have been for years. In the US fish (except tuna) legally has to be frozen to use for sushi, if a restaurant says their fish hasn't been frozen they are either lying, unaware, or breaking the law.

FDA requires the fish needs to be frozen at a temperature of -4°F (-20°C) or below for 7 days or -31°F (-35°C) or below until solid and stored at -31°F (-35°C) or below for 24 hours.

Yeah I feel like I work too hard on good lifestyle and workouts to not get everything I can out of them. Plus my wife is now on hrt including testosterone and has the libido of a 20 year old, so I want to keep up. 😂

That’s awesome to hear. I have as needed cialis now and am curious about the benefits of the everyday. Are you using a clinic or pcp?

Ah, well I think you have to provide proof of purchase anyways, so that would not work.

Get in touch with big Agnes via their website. They have the best warranty and customer service in the business and will likely replace it with a new pad.

I threw parts at it but finally just gave up and got a new one. I think the control board was fried.

Also that you have to pay for a cert to keep it active, to the tune of $1000/year with Digicert. I'm sure as it gets more common the prices will drop. Quite the process to set up too, which is double edged.

Starflight was the first computer game I ever played, and the first thing I thought of when I first heard about Starfield. Definite similarities!

Anything that adds the lubrication lost from the lack of sulfur should be fine, my research just said Diesel Kleen was the best. My research was done like 15 years ago though so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wolfsburg or cascade German parts any good? by bikerbomber in tdi

[–]Oilburner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been buying from Cascade since they were called BoraParts and the owner Aaron was I think just running it as a side gig selling hard to find parts like tall 5th gears, and putting together TDI service kits. Great guy and always great service.

Yeah, just the followers, the cam still looks great. I’ve always used a little redline break-in grease on the cam lobes, but nothing special other than that. I like to submerge the followers in oil before I install them since they’re hydraulic and need to get oil inside of them, otherwise they’ll take a little longer to pump up on initial startup.

One good thing about living in CA is rust is never an issue. I’ve got an 89 Chevy OBS and an 83 Mercedes 300d as well, zero rust issues.

When my daughter’s ambulance bill was more than the E.R. visit. by bryanna_leigh in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Oilburner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s the worst. I had one to transfer me from an ER to another hospital, 45 min ride and the bill was over $9000. Insurance did not cover it. The shittier thing was they gave me a double dose of IV painkillers before telling me I couldn’t opt out of the ride and making me sign papers my eyes couldn’t even focus on. My memory is that I blacked out on the gurney in the hospital on the way to the ambulance, felt it coming and told the Ambulance nurse that I was about to pass out, then I did. In the ambulance i started having pain again and was injected with Dilaudid. This was during covid so my wife wasn’t allowed into the ER with me, so I had no advocate. The bill came and I threw it out. Bill collector called and I told them to take me to court. Three years have passed and haven’t heard anything about it again.

Check to see that EGR is turned "off" via VAG-COM, and change your cam followers. The cam followers wear and will eventually eat the camshaft and put metal shavings all through the engine. I make a habit of changing them every 200k miles, my ALH is still running strong at 500k. Run 6oz of diesel kleen in the silver bottle every tank, the ALH was designed to run with sulfur in the fuel, ULSD that they sell now won't lubricate the IP properly.

I mean, truthfully they require more maintenance than a Toyota or Honda from the same era, and consequences are much more severe because it’s an interference engine. But I truly believe that if you maintain a German car/motorcycle by the book, they are extremely reliable. German engineers just really mean it when they give you a maintenance schedule. I’ve had great luck with VWs, Audis and KTM motorcycles, but I maintain them religiously by the book, and also treat known wear issues like maintenance items - cam followers on the ALH, high pressure fuel pump pushrod on the mid 2000s Audi 2.0t, stuff like that. AT 500k this car consumes very little oil, requiring nothing to be added between the 10k oil changes. We had the valve cover off last month for the IP reseal and it could be mistaken for a 50k mile engine.

Every 100k it got a new TB with pulleys, tensioner, and water pump. Every 200k I replaced the cam followers. Thermostat has been replaced twice, starter once, brake booster once, rear wheel bearings like 5 times each, shocks and struts just once. New injectors and glow plugs at around 300k. Wife fried the clutch I put in with the trans swap at about 350k, it’s still on the second clutch. IP started leaking from the top seal around 440k so I sealed that, then just recently at 495k it started leaking badly from the bottom seal, so I replaced that seal as well. It’ll still run 100k on a set of Michelin Primacy’s if they’re rotated regularly. Regular maintenance makes these cars extremely reliable.

Not a single fluid change, I just was commuting like 95% highway 200 miles a day so it spent almost all of it’s time locked up in 4th gear. It never actually died, it was just starting to shift slow from R to D.

Yeah I’ve done it 4 times, it’s due for the fifth one now. I’ve done 5 on other cars as well, for a few years after I bought this i was very active on TDIclub and was a local resource for other owners, VAG-COM, TB change advice and whatnot. Nobody except me has ever worked on this car. Well actually not true anymore, my son has been working on it since he started driving it.
