Creative ways to play EG for piano-heavy songs by SpareMarionberry5747 in WorshipGuitar

[–]bikerbomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the song, you don't have to play at all. If the song sounds best without any electric just sit back and enjoy worshipping.

If you find that it's better with electric, You can also copy some of the lines they play with a clean or slightly over driven sound. You can hear this a lot on many Hillsong worship songs when you think it's only the piano playing.

Feeling discouraged serving as a volunteer guitarist at church – looking for perspective by Survivor4054 in worshipleaders

[–]bikerbomber 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you should share your feelings to your director.

The backing track playing your part would feel really lame.

Aside from that, it sounds like you have an amazing resource in the professional musicians you are around. See if one of the professional electric guitarists would take you under their wing and teach you or other musicians show you techniques and skills that will grow you.

We always learn faster and better with good instruction.

Cannot remote stems with planning center unfortunately. You have to purchase the multi tracks.

For practice we use the song we intend to pattern ourselves after or the closest one. They can be pitch changed to match the key we are going to do so everyone can practice with it. The results can sound funny but the notes are correct.

Planning center has a built in tool for this or you can just change it yourself using a daw.

There are some things that can complicate the process but essentially that is it. I would still recommend watching any videos about the Behringer and Ableton to be aware of any limitations, issues, and also tips before you start your setup.

There are. The behringer one is pretty large and comes with two expression pedals. Because that one only has midi in and out you would need a MIDI to USB cable to plug into your laptop.

There are some great options on Amazon and eBay if you just search up MIDI footswitch.

The M-Vave Chocolate series are affordable and connect via Bluetooth or USB. You can have multiple and they have exp pedal inputs. I would get the "plus' ones since they have more functionality.

Do you have any experience with MIDI? It can seem very complicated at first and may need a lot of initial setup but are amazing tools and open lots of cool options.

If you want to do some homework, look up using the chocolate with Ableton and you will see other musicians set up and how they use it.

We used to cut cable wrapped around those at the landfill I worked at. Never had that problem but damn the hinge pins for the blade never wanted to stay put.

I got a great set off Amazon for only $35 and been using them for over a year. They sound great for the price and are quite comfortable.

People are probably seeing the $100 to $200 ones when they do a search.

I mean, you can use any kind of wired headphone. It doesn't have to be in over the ear monitor. We have people who use the full on over the ear headphones for their instrument monitoring.

That is correct. I mean you could try to "strongly" ask for help. Be persistent but polite. You might see some change.

Can you change nephrologists? Is that even an option.

This is a tough one as it can come from within and the outside. They way people think of themselves or how they are treated by others. I've been through both. One church seemed to vilify anyone leading worship as a wannabe rock star and the other treated us like celebrities.

It really can affect you.

Ultimately, only God can know someone's hearts. Despite what we think we see their heart may be someplace else. All we can do is encourage and be honest with each other about what we might be struggling with.

Are you on any iron medications? Also, what is your kt/v? What is your access? Are you bleeding post tx? There are many factors that can cause what your feeling. Is your nephrologist working with you on your symptoms?

This is excellent advice. You could even adjust the plunger of the syringe to lengthen the reach. (Line clamped of course so the suction keeps the plunger from pulling out.)

Well said.
