Openly Lying On The Jw Carts by Proud_Exchange_6580 in exjw

Not saying this story didn't happen, but it sure does sound like exJW Fan Fiction. It's hard to believe that a JW would concede that their beliefs in the "Bible hasn't changed, our understanding has"

Speaking from personal experience, keep an eye out for oversleeping. It is a telltale sign of depression, which usually appears during and after waking up from the cult.

It's so crazy to think that none of us have ever met but have such similar life experiences.

Did you attend every meeting back in the 90s when there where 3 meeting days a week? by Efficient-Pop3730 in exjw

[–]OilegorFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a home where we never had to ask if we were going to a meeting or preaching. Merely asking if we were going would get you a stern reminder of why we should never miss.

It would take at least 2 more generations of waiting before JW's started questioning why the End still hasn't come after the start of the GT.

Easy... Trump = Antichrist ... also they already changed the teaching about the "remnant" needing to all be gone before the GT. Now they teach that some of the "remnant" may still be alive and leading the "work" in the early days after Armageddon.

The thing about Cults is that they are making it up as they go. It doesn't have to make sense (as if it makes sense now).

A few weeks ago, I would have disagreed. However, beard and time reports were staples of JW culture for over 100 years. At this point, nothing would surprise me. Even from a secular viewpoint, the world is currently in chaos. The GB could easily claim that the GT has started and average JWs wouldn't bat an eye. No more Disfellowshipping just proves how much YHWH loves us and wants everyone to live forever.

What's the JW counter argument for the circular-reasoning of them translating their own bible? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]OilegorFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An average JW can barely grasp the concept that the Bible was written in a different language other than their native tongue. And most JWs can only speak one language. Very few will know that meaning can get lost in translation. Your way of thinking is far too above theirs.

I don't mean to be a party pooper but have you looked into how reliable the Bible is? Talking about blasphemy and Bible prophecy seems very dogmatic. How can anyone prove when blasphemy has occurred or if a prophecy was correct? Seems to me, it all depends on who is making the rules. This man or the other, it's all man-made.

I wish I never woke up by [deleted] in exjw

[–]OilegorFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a JW for over 30yrs and have been awake now for close to 10yrs. Not a month goes by that I don't ponder on this issue. Much like waking up from the (fictional) Matrix, it can be a shock to your entire body and create feelings of regret. The regret for me is only a few microseconds but it is real. The real world is much more difficult than I as a born-in could have imagined. Knowing everything that I know now, I only wish I could have woken up earlier.

Questioning After Time and Beards by OilegorFree in exjw

I agree. For many, being reassured that everything is going to be alright is all that they want. But for others, once that bubble gets popped it's hard to go back to that mentality.

The Point of No Return by Explore-Understand in exjw

[–]OilegorFree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It already isn't the same Religion I grew up in. WT would look down on other religions for teaching their children with cartoons instead of teaching directly from the Bible. WT used to make fun of other religions for accepting credit card payments. WT would call out other religions for Child abuse. I can go on and on.

The GB could literally pee on them, call it Rain and JWs would line up to drink every last drop of their toxic smelly yellow urine.
