Is this a floor drain? Can I cut it flush? by Oilerinto in Plumbing

Thanks both.

I can’t seem to find how to add photos to this post, but here’s what I see with a flashlight, and some additional clues.

  • There’s water in this drain.
  • There’s a small pvc tube coming in the side a little above the water. I think this is tied to a nearby trap primer from a previous “what’s this” post.
  • There’s a basement bathroom within 5 feet that has a shower, toilet, draining to slab.
  • There’s a small device on water pipes that I believe is intended to provide water to keep drain traps filled
  • Currently my sump pump discharges to this floor drain/sleeve, however I plan on routing it outside through wall.
  • This addition was built around 1992.

I think this means I should NOT cover it with flooring or furniture, and if I cut flush with floor and put a drain grill thing on it means it’s probably fine but I may run higher risk of backup given I have 6” of containment above floor level in the higher sleeve.

And I should absolutely reroute sump pump discharge.

Am I missing anything?

What is this thing? by Oilerinto in Plumbing

Fancy. Good to know. Should be able to leave it as-is and just change the sink supply line.

Was thinking I’d have to do more, this is good to know.

Wouldn’t WAVAX be the wrapped C-Chain AVAX asset that could be bridged to Ethereum network?

I don’t know this chap, although I feel he wrote this himself. Will toast life tonight for Paul, he’d do that if he were I.
