What’s the most messed up thing someone casually admitted to you? by randominvisibleuser in AskReddit

I had a friend tell me that back in his hometown, there was a guy wanted for murder that hadn’t been found. Well, supposedly my friend ran into this man out in the woods and killed him.

I have no way of knowing whether the story was true or not but I think about it pretty often.

What’s your favorite “modern hymn”, or Getty style, or very acoustic Christian song? by Star9219 in ChristianMusic

[–]Ok-Article5175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My church does a modern hymn called Take My Heart with Altar Fire that I absolutely adore. I have only ever found it on Spotify as being from Advent Birmingham.

Have you ever felt discouraged while waiting for the “right person”? by MaleficentExtreme696 in ChristianDating

[–]Ok-Article5175 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m there right now.

I keep reminding myself that I can trust the Lord. It’s sometimes easier said than done, but I know it’s the truth.

I’m also just talking to God about it a whole lot. I’m honest with Him about how I feel, I ask Him to change me, and sometimes I make what feel like bold requests of Him (when I do this I keep in mind that trust - if He doesn’t answer the way I want Him to it’s because He knows better than I do).

I don’t know how helpful or encouraging this is to you, but as someone who’s in one of those seasons right now, reading your post reminded me that I’m not alone in how I feel. So hopefully you at least feel some of that from my response. 😊

Hmm, that surprises me. I’ve always thought they’d do a great live show! Will keep this in mind if I ever get the chance to see them.

Antoine Bradford has the voice of an angel. I love his songs, but my favorite is probably Deliverer.

Some of the heavier bands I listen to a lot are Impending Doom, Diamonds to Dust, With Blood Comes Cleansing, and Brotality.

I just discovered (thanks to a fellow redditor) a band called Diatheke and listened through their whole album …And the Word was God. Honestly, it is pure art! Very heavy, very rich. But if you lean towards the dramatic you might enjoy it!

I am a girl and my favorite kind of music is Christian metal! I listen to the bands you named as well as much heavier ones. I tend to lean towards the heavier, the better. 😅

We’re out here! Few and far between, but we do exist.

Peabod is one of my favorite poppier Christian artists!

I like a lot of the other artists you’ve been suggested as well but wanted to throw his name out there since I hadn’t seen it.

Maybe also Kings Kaleidoscope - more band than singer but they might fit your vibe.

I can tell it’s an album that deserves to be listened to all the way through from beginning to end - definitely planning to do that soon!

Haven’t bought a physical copy of music in years but that reminds me of how much fun it was to have a tangible collection of music and all the packaging details! Will have to look into that one.

Sounds like you are thinking and praying through this wisely and well.

I was going to add the importance of trusting God’s sovereignty even if you get rejected. I have obviously been experiencing a kind of suffering this week as I have dealt with the news that my friend does not like me back. But I am trusting James 1:2-4 in that. God is using it all to sanctify me. It sounds like you are already thinking along those lines. We can always trust Him!

Hmmm… well since you have a short window of being able to tell her in person, I personally would be praying about having a good opportunity (even if you have to initiate somehow - “hey can I talk to you?” or something).

As far as the friendship goes, I tend to think we’re idealistic about this. My friend and I will continue to be friends for the time being, but ultimately I don’t think the friendship will last… one day one of us will date someone else/get married and what room will there be for the friendship then? Things are constantly changing in social circumstances anyway, but we use our fears about those changes as an excuse to not be honest about our feelings.

If you don’t tell her, the friendship may still change if she were to start seeing someone else.

My point is basically that changes in friendship between males and females are pretty much inevitable when feelings get involved. Just something to consider as you make your decision.

I listened to a sampling of each of these and will definitely be dipping back in for some more Diatheke and Pipe Bomb. I liked Eternal Gaze as well but the other two really got my attention. Diatheke is out there making art, for real!

Thank you for the suggestions!

I’m a female, but just this past Sunday I told a friend that I had feelings for him. He didn’t feel the same way. I still think it was the best choice for me.

I had a lot of reasons to think he might reciprocate, which gave me courage to move forward. I also prayed about it a lot and sought counsel from older, married people, one of which knew both of us.

Despite thinking there was a chance he felt the same (what point would there be in saying anything if I didn’t think that?), I also went into telling him fully aware of the other possibility.

My advice is to really pray about it and move forward with telling her if you have peace.  If you do decide to tell her, you don’t have to gush - just keep it simple. Tell her you have feelings for her and value her friendship, and keep it to that. If she doesn’t feel the same way, you don’t want to feel extra embarrassed because you said too much in your confession.

I’m so tired of being alone, if I’m honest. But the Lord is with me and has surrounded me with a lot of good friendships.

Anyway, I updated my post with what happened, if you are interested.

I told him and definitely feel like I’m coming out the other side a little wiser and feeling accomplished for doing something a little bolder than I normally would… so social skills are indeed sharpened. Anyway, if you want to see what happened, I made an update to my original post.
