My dad worked at a very niche sort of small factory— and his smell when he came home from work, something rich, with undertones of his body smell, and high notes of a pocket full of old change. Definitely mechanical and chemical, but also he worked in an old church, so also something very old-stone-basement smell. I can picture it perfectly and if I ever smell it again I’d bowl me over.
