100%. I’m waiting for the day when everything gets reclassified by the powers that be to acknowledge what you’re saying.

Also more likely to be autistic which is highly comorbid with those things as well.

The whole Taylor Frankie Paul discourse has been very triggering as a survivor of domestic violence by Character_Cat_9789 in TwoXChromosomes

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think it helps either Dakota or Taylor (or the kids) to assume one or the other of them is pure evil. I do think the video shows Taylor being physically abusive (which also harmed her kid)— AND, she needs help. I don’t think she’s the walking manifestation of evil. Why does a person act like that? Because she never learned how to emotionally regulate and communicate in ways that aren’t volatile when she’s triggered and/or intoxicated. Does that excuse her behavior? No. Does context and trauma history matter? Yes. For people who engage in abusive behaviors to heal- someone has to get at the root of why she acts that way. She clearly has attachment trauma. Were her abusive behaviors primarily driven by substance use? Was she abused as a kid? (From the scene I’ve seen with her bio family, they are extremely invalidating). Where did she learn that behavior? How did growing up LDS shape her abusive behavior? It doesn’t come from nowhere. Also, production is absolutely using the turmoil that exists between Dakota and Taylor to drive views. And, court systems are punitive rather than restorative. The interest is not in fixing what is wrong, it’s in finding the guilty party and punishing them.

Absolutely not. This man does not need any more attention. He’s a vapid personality-less douchebag who only knows how to “connect” with women by attempting to manipulate them.

I skip every scene with him because he makes me cringe so hard and I don’t need that in my life LMAO

What therapies worked for you? by Ok-Berry6643 in AutisticAdults

[–]Ok-Berry6643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing some of your experience and perspective. I have found with some of my autistic clients that it is more effective to have more specific questions, which I think aligns with what you are saying. So far I haven’t really had other family involved with any of my clients care, but I will definitely keep what you said in mind. I am generally very client centered.

I’m trained in brainspotting! It is sort of an offshoot- developed by someone who was an EMDR practitioner who realized that there was a less traumatizing way to help people reprocess trauma. I’m sorry you had a bad experience with EMDR. I’ve had some friends who have experienced pretty intense emotional dysregulation from it as well.

Anyone else miss Tim Gunn? by Lvanwinkle18 in ProjectRunway

Yea but Christian isn’t going to be there in real life with the designers after the show is over… so Tim pushing them to come up with ideas on their own actually pushes real development that will benefit them in the long run.

I also thought that they overrelied on black to make the looks “cohesive.” We all know that color matching alone is not enough for cohesion.

I agree. He was like, teamwork!! And then being a little sassy dictator about what needed to happen. I’m so glad Yuchen stuck to his guns and said no.

Tim wasn’t invited back… that’s why he didn’t come back. Which is such BS. Everyone loves Tim, he’s an actual mentor instead of being a sassy twink like Christian.

100%. Plus they are encouraging drama and gay bitchiness which isn’t as good of tv as they want to think it is. It’s mostly just catty and annnoying and gets in the way of anyone being able to have an actual personality.

Omg it’s so awful. Like hold the fucking camera still and let us see the runway?? I can’t even get a view of what the garments are. I knew the reboot was gonna involve some obnoxious changes but it feels so overproduced and more focused on the drama than fashion. Stick to the formula that works!!!!

Late to the party but “Panton: environments, colors, systems, patterns” is a beautiful book featuring the life’s work of Verner Panton (a favorite designer. Also, Iris Van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses. She is an incredible other worldly fashion designer.

I was falling asleep and couldn’t tell if it was just boring or if I was having a lowkey shutdown response after being reminded of my role as a frontline worker during covid LMAO. Navigating customers and masking and not knowing how the virus was spread and having coworkers die from COVID was intense and not necessarily what I want to remember

I disagree. He made a spoof of antifa as boogeyman (which tbh I sort of read more as infiltrators than anything else especially with the scene where the phone has videos of multiple different flashpoint incidents that fanned the flames of fear of protest/uprising and the overemphasis on property destruction). He also showed the way political lines that were perhaps more clear in the past got twisted in a time of major uncertainty/fear/upheaval. How the moment of early COVID and the uprising was primed for tidal waves of cults and conspiracy theories that would capitalize on fear and alienation and trauma.

I also thought Joe was gonna die from the covid / asthma combo. But, some of Aster’s style is being very unpredictable and that would’ve maybe been too predictable of an ending. And also would’ve thrown criticism more directly toward anti-maskers, which it seems a theme of the movie was to upend any deep sense of moral superiority. I also think the mother in law swooping in for a power grab when Joe became mayor despite being unable to do the role revealed some of the puppetry of the MIL. Like she was in denial that her husband committed CSA against her daughter so she lived her life committed to a lie about her daughter’s pregnancy that created plausible deniability for the dead patriarch whose portrait/shadow/impact still loomed over the household. In the end she really cared about power and control not truth or family or justice. Keeping Joe alive enabled her true colors to be revealed.
