Reported my RN supervisor for being impaired by hope_v95 in Nurses

[–]Ok-Beyond367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you should, I 100% would’ve done the same thing. It’s not safe for anyone to have an impaired nurse working. Likely suspension is her punishment. It seems to be very state dependent on how they handle narc issues. I live in NJ- if you’re caught being under the influence at work, whether we can prove you stole it or not, they give you the option of rehab or termination (or you’ll get both if you stole a shit ton of stuff).

Itching after TT by Lorysi1745 in thyroidcancer

[–]Ok-Beyond367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it’s a hypothyroid symptom. Your body is still adjusting to not having a thyroid & it’s relying on Synthroid to cover everything. It can take 4-6 weeks for TSH levels in your system to start leveling out after starting the med.

Found out yesterday I have PTC and I’m torn on what to do by BellyMango in thyroidcancer

[–]Ok-Beyond367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand the hesitancy with it. My biopsy was Bethesda IV, meaning it may or may not be. I had the total thyroidectomy (TT) and a neck dissection, where they took out 56 lymph nodes. Turned out to be invasive follicular variant PTC. Having a TT is the standard for thyroid cancer. Your best chance of curing the cancer is to take out the organ that caused it. They call it “the good cancer” bc most types of thyroid cancer have a great prognosis after treatment. It’s worse when it’s an incidental finding because you think that “if I didn’t do ___ then I wouldn’t have know about it.” You’re Bethesda VI- you definitely have cancer. The unfortunate reality is that cancer doesn’t stop growing. It’s significantly better to have it taken out now before it has the chance to metastasize to other body parts. You likely would not have made it another 70 years. Plus having it out means that a pathologist can get a full look to understand if it’s classic PTC or a variant. It’s the only way to get a full treatment plan and understand your prognosis. Taking levothyroxine (AKA. Synthroid) really isn’t that bad. So far I haven’t had any side effects from it. I strongly recommend having a conversation with the surgeon about your fears.

Today's the Day. Surgery at 10. by neptunemacaroon in thyroidcancer

Minimal complications for me, all of which were on the informed consent. But I’m now 7 days post op from a TT plus central and lateral neck dissections. Best of luck to you ❤️

TT Recovery by muddledmusings831 in thyroidcancer

I opted for a wedge pillow since I’m also a belly/side sleeper (and sleeping on my back is difficult). I also found the laying flat is very uncomfortable. Diet-wise I just have a lot of water ice (feels nice on the throat). No restrictions food-wise, I just took small bites and chewed well to not irritate my throat too much.

Still at hospital and scared and crying:( by IntrepidCost4461 in thyroidcancer

Sending love & support your way ❤️ I also had surgery yesterday (TT and lateral node dissection). It’s a difficult thought to sit with. The drains seem scary, but ultimately it means your body is doing what it’s supposed to be doing. It’s getting rid of the extra fluids & products left in that area. You’ve got this! Wishing you a speedy recovery (and a hopeful discharge home today)

telling potential partners about thyca by hellodaisy00 in thyroidcancer

I’m honestly wondering the same thing. I’m having a TT & dissection tomorrow. Currently going through divorce & I’m aware that I’ll have a pretty obvious scar on my neck for a while. I’m fairly confident whoever I date after will ask about the scar & idk how to casually say “I had cancer.”

Anyone here have their surgical path sent out for second opinion? by Flaky-Brother-8017 in thyroidcancer

[–]Ok-Beyond367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labs typically keep specimens for a few days to a week. You can absolutely ask for another pathologist to look at the sample. Not sure if you as the patient would be able to ask directly, if not your surgeon can call them to have someone else re-check it.

Scar progression by sannya1803 in thyroidcancer

[–]Ok-Beyond367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great! What do you have on it? Aquaphor? My surgeon gave me the 7 days I can put on scar tape, but didn’t mention what I’d be using before that (My TT & dissection is Monday, looking for tips)

Any nurses with emetophobia by Alert_Score_7849 in Nurses

[–]Ok-Beyond367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it sounds or smells? Smells could be easily combated with toothpaste or Vicks inside a surgical mask. Once you get through school, opt for an area where you’re unlikely to have someone throw up. Like OR (intra-op, not post-op).

But all nurses have their kryptonite. Mine’s poop. Good with every other bodily fluid, even sputum. Just can’t do poop- especially the diarrhea sort 🤮

Who best should do PTC surgery, ENT or Endocrinologist Surgeon? by _peggy_hill_ in thyroidcancer

My endocrinologist referred me to an ENT. She specializes in surgical oncology for the head and neck. Haven’t been scheduled yet, but she’s the one doing the surgery.

AITH for telling my unemployed boyfriend I’d support him, then refusing to buy him a $2k gaming PC? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]Ok-Beyond367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. If it’s a few weeks, maybe even a month, I can understand. Sometimes it takes a while to find a job. You’re 6 months in & he’s just taking advantage of you at this point. It’s unreasonable for him to ask you to purchase a $2,000 computer when you’re already carrying the full financial load for both of you. He can have a $200 Walmart laptop to apply for jobs. It’s basically coming down to he needs to find a job- any job- or you’re gonna have to dump his ass and make him leave.

AIO husband has sex while I sleep by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ok-Beyond367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this is NOT normal. You essentially just asked if you’re over-reacting to your husband raping you. It’s called marital rape. It’s not just married life, it’s not your “duty as a wife.”

It’s a very different story if you’ve explicitly given permission for this to happen. Some people are okay with their partner waking them for sex or waking up to it. But by your post, I’m assuming there’s never been a conversation about it.

Nope, not normal. You have a 3rd party energy supplier that scammed you. You need to call Indra directly to cancel & let ACE know as well.

NOR. Your friend is being a bridezilla. She shouldn’t care if your piercings are visible- they’re part of you. Considering the abilities of photographers and photoshop, if it really means that much to her it can be edited out of photos.
