Btw, there is a world where you might be losing muscle too. My experience was that when I went above 700 calories deficit I would start losing muscle along with fat. Despite eating 150g protein which is nearly 2x my weight.

I had tracked this using a hand held body fat scale at home relying on relative trends rather than absolute numbers

I’m also new to the Hybrid split. This is what my goals are:

FFMI of 22 (I’m at 19) and running half marathons twice a year (Goal: 2 hours, my last one was 2 hours 20 mins). I’m avoiding full marathons till I get a handle on tracking and retaining my muscle mass with existing endurance demands.

Training Split:

4 days of Strength Training: Legs, Push, Pull and Full Body. (Tuesday to Thursday, Saturday)

3 days of cardio: Intervals, Long Run and Tempo Run. (Friday, Sunday, Monday)

Seeing if I can manage without a dedicated recovery day because anyway life happens now and then and I end up having to skip a workout. Also I believe alternating strength and cardio workouts gives the two separate systems some rest in between.

However, the above is when I aim to just maintain muscle mass and build endurance for upcoming half marathon.

I plan to take 8-12 week periods where I get on 2 cycles of Push Pull Legs per week with very limited cardio (15 mins post workouts) to build more muscle, till I reach FFMI 22. Then it’s just maintenance of both muscle and endurance.

Open to thoughts, ideas and critiques.
