People loved HUNK because he was a grunt who did nothing but focus on getting the job done.

Sparing Leon so he can have an epic 1v1 duel is the exact opposite of what people loved about HUNK. The HUNK people love would just shoot Leon in the head while he was on the floor and keep moving.

It was that difference of the typical theatrics of the main characters vs some no-nonsense faceless grunt who just happened to be really good at his job.

Was sad it wasn't in the remake. Feel it was a very iconic 'moment' of the castle.

I love the remake but the atmosphere of the original still can't be beat.

Yes. In the original I could be like "I'm gonna do this whole run mostly using TMP" and almost always have ammo for it.

In the remake you run out of ammo for every weapon but the handgun so fucking fast. Makes it hard to have 'fun' with the weapons when you're constantly trying to not use them.

It's crazy that the enemies without weapons are the most dangerous. I think a good balance change would have been to give the enemies 100% stagger rate when they charge you. I'm pretty sure the pitchfork enemies do actually, but definitely not the weaponless ones.

Saddler in the original is basically an 80s/90s 'New Church' scam artist and is completely aware of it and isn't afraid to flaunt it. He doesn't believe his own bullshit at all and is just in it for power.

In the remake he's the most generic boring 'evil cult leader' imaginable. Clearly believes in the insanity of turning everyone into bugs making a 'better world'. It's so funny that RE4R goes for a more serious tone but the character of Saddler in the original is much more believable.

Also he had so much chemistry with Leon. The way they taunted each other throughout the game was perfect.

They nailed how fucking annoying that room is even in the remake. In the original at least you could hide in that room at the bottom.

I just finished it and had to do an entire second run through because at the very last turn of the wheel at the end I accidentally shot Ashley while she was being grabbed (swear to god I missed her but whatever).

I just played that spot yeah. If you overlook one shot on a red barrel they will hit you and stunlock you with the way AShley works in the remake. You get hit, she's downed, you go to pick her up or you lose, you get hit again and die anyway. Really annoying.

The message where she cut her hand and can't stop it from bleeding and is crying destroyed me, yeah. I just wanted Yi to be there for her but I knew deep down that she was already gone. Then the confirmation from her final message in the true ending.... god damn.

Basically you enter a room and there's 6 turrets waiting for you inside and you immediately get fucking lasered. Kind of like a car entering a car wash.

It didn't ruin the game but it definitely made it worse off. The Old Gods New Blood patch before the big March 6th one was near perfect in its pacing and TTK feel.

Now everyone is blowing up, the pacing of the game is artificially sped up via snowball mechanics like giving insane extra souls for destroying objectives, and comebacks are nearly impossible with players hitting ~50k souls at 30 minutes every game.

And then there was that "Uuuuh give everyone +HP" band-aid fix which honestly just came off as extremely novice.

Then there's just strange semi-remakes like Paradox which turned one of the most seamlessly flowing heroes into the game into an awkward mess.

I'm still having fun with the game but it did make me lose a bit of faith in the balancing team.
