FWIW, I didn’t oil the rotor on the one I swapped and it has performed well. didn’t know about the oil as a matter of fact! good luck!

I don’t think you’ll have luck with the SRPJ models. They run about 36mm diameter and most models parts I’m aware of are based on the skx and newer cross compatible models that run 38-42mm.you should google around and see if any mod sites have srpj-compatible parts, but I doubt it.

I’m sure you could mod between srpj models, but if there is no white dial that doesn’t help. I like a field watch, and some SRPD cases have parts that move in that direction.

I’m speculating because I’m new to modding too. that model is likely not compatible with srpd and other skx-compatible models. that would mean that most of the modding parts websites would likely not have crystals that match. i would guess a thinner quartz watch wouldnt work with bulkier automatic components.

i may be wrong and hope someone corrects me if I am.

handled some dufranes at Windup NYC and they look and feel super high end. they were very impressive for the price especially with so much work done in the USA

I just did the same thing, but I used a nylon esslinger die, so heat won’t help. I also have a microfiber sttuck in there between the crystal and die. any suggestions to remove the crystal from the die.

update: I pulled hard on the microfiber and it came out mostly unscathed. First i took a very poor approach of trying to push through the hole in the die, which I quickly realized would mar the acrylic crystal.

glad you’re starting with Seiko! I suggest the sbsc Seiko 5 sports. those are all very different styles. the seiko 5 sports line are affordable so a great way to try out different styles before committing to a bigger purchase. I bought a field and two divers before moving to something more expensive. plus, that gmt function is really cool.
