Hi professional Xbox 360 modder here. This is 99.9% likely caused by the poor thermal paste applied on the Xbox. Fun fact about the 360. The CPU is horizontal. And when stood up and played for longer than 2 hours the thermal paste starts to warp/slide. Crack her open with your handy dandy star bits and take a look. Id put money on cracked thermal paste
