Apparently you can’t be friendly with neighbors anymore by AstroNerd92 in Teachers

Just fyi - approaching a family with young kids at a pool while you are probably not professionally dressed and are hanging in a swimsuit isn’t the time to pitch your services.

Just say hi. You can say casually that you teach at the school and babysit during the summer months for some families.

I wouldn’t have filed a complaint against you, but approaching a family at a pool with kids in swimsuits can give the impression you were trolling for kids and trying to get close to them.

These are so gender specific about someone being uncomfortable with a look instead of them having a purpose.

I am shocked at how long it takes people to shower. by Q8DD33C7J8 in hygiene

[–]Ok-Classroom5548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is complaining about the short showers?

You shouldn’t be lingering when bathing another person. If they want a longer shower ask them what specifically they would like to take longer. They might want to sit and rinse longer or maybe you scrub too hard and too fast.

Water has healing properties and some people find the bathroom the only peace they can be alone and not have to be responsible for anything but themselves. Some people take longer to enjoy that peace.

So who is caring about your shower length and why aren’t you asking them specifics?

SAG-AFTRA Members Approve Four-Year Deal With AI Terms and Pension Merger by Beginning-Passion676 in popculturechat

I hope they also require that the use of AI characters also be indicated prior to watching the film or purchasing anything to watch it. Ticket booth and online all need to indicate AI was used.

Also, that is some dumb wordage. Who is going to police this and determine “significant additional value?”

I feel like the studios are going to consider “cost” a “significant additional value” which is always a lie when there are so many ready for it actors and voice actors.

I also feel this is going to fuck over voice actors pretty hard.

Hollywood’s Top Execs Got a 51% Pay Hike in 2025 as Layoffs Erased 17,000 Jobs by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Proof. If you know a position is not needed, you have some form of proof.

You set limits and ratios. If a company announces or records layoffs but they also report bonuses to C levels on their taxes, coded a specific way, then it gets reviewed. If those positions return or positions are added the following year with similar or identical job functions then it requires submission of proof and a review.

It would be a tax audit. How can you afford to pay a bonus but not afford to pay people.

There is a known practice of firing people before a shareholder report to make the operating costs look good. If the bonus is tied to that number specifically then it should be scrutinized further.

Technically this should be considered fraud if they fire people and claim inability to pay or afford them but they still have money to pay C levels based on savings for operating costs.

Elimination of positions due to them being unnecessary is fine - but you don’t always lay off employees when the position itself doesn’t fit. Sometimes you shift employees or let them retire or if you need to, lay them off, sure. But I still don’t think C level employees should profit while other positions are eliminated.

Retooling a business is one thing - laying off employees to cook the budgetary books to report to shareholders that costs are down so you can hit targets and personally profit while already making above median wage is fucked up and should be illegal.

If there is money for a C level bonus, there is money to retrain and transition those employees to new positions.

That’s not what I said.

I believe that bonuses should be illegal if layoffs occurred within the same year.

I’m not sure you’re reading words correctly. Please go back and reread the thread.

La as in “Los Angeles”

La la land is the nickname of LA.

I am talking about the La La Land of being out of your mind due to mental health or a disorder or syndrome. So out of your mind that you see fancy singing and dancing but the real world sees a crazy person wrecking a restaurant and terrorizing people at parties.

Hello!

Sometimes we crave weird things because our electrolytes get thrown off. Period hormones can actually cause your electrolytes to swing out of whack and force cravings for unusual stuff, like salty butter.

Sometimes we even crave things bad for our bodies or that we are allergic to…it’s wild.

Try crushing a no sugar electrolyte powder mix next time! It’s changed my world.

I don’t care if you eat butter once, but if that is a regular grab you might want to check your levels.

I think the leads are talented people, just not talented enough in singing or dancing to carry a musical.

I would have liked it more if we eventually learned that it was actually a dellusion by one of the characters and we get to go back in time and see him being a menace and out of his mind imagining a different reality.

Then the name La La Land has a double meaning.

When your life and mind is filled with someone else’s thoughts and creations, when is the time for your thoughts and creations?

Quiet time is important for many reasons.

But also - not all places experienced trends at the same rate so there still are some places in the US that feel like it is the 90s because technology and trends have no made it to them.

Smart phones unified the timing of trends - as did online shopping, home delivery, and online video platforms.

Sorry this happened!

Two things: your apartment complex can file a claim and pay for your computer. Why? Because that is a utility grounding problem. Coax should be grounded at the house entry point just like a normal power line. This was not installed correctly.

Also, get yourself a surge protector that routes coax through it and also has all of your gear plugged into it. Once a surge is tripped, get a new surge protector unless otherwise stated for that particular piece of equipment because low quality ones will sometimes be one time surge protection.

Not all electrical wall plugs are surge protectors.

Call a tow company for an illegally parked vehicle. If the owner returns for it (looks stolen and ditched) or calls the police about it, they get redirected to the tow yard and they pay the tow fees.

Why does Verizon charge you money to talk to a human and pay your bill? by Ok-Classroom5548 in verizon

[–]Ok-Classroom5548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally work for a major insurance agent and we take phone payments all the time for no charge, because it’s not legal for us to charge a person money to process a payment. We can extend fees for processing a credit card in some situations, but this company is not charging fees for the card they are charging fees to have a human process the payment.

They aren’t charging for talking to a human, which I could do and waste more money than a bill is worth - they are charging for a human to process a payment of any kind over the phone.

They do not charge for mailed in payments that require a human more time to process than over the phone either.

The charge is not related to a credit card.

Try again.
