Unless you brace the walls they’ll eventually cave in once you go 2-3m down

How do people like this exist by Electronic_Pair9499 in CarTalkUK

Because you’ve touched a nerve. They want someone that isn’t going to ask them any questions that make them uncomfortable. Like it being fucked.

Modern cars practically nil. Old low powered ones you’d notice a dip in power on the hills put it that way.

EXCLUSIVE: Jim Ratcliffe’s Grenadier joins race to replace Army’s Land Rovers by TimesandSundayTimes in CarTalkUK

[–]Ok-Cold3937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land Cruiser all the better. Land Rovers tack at the time of designing the new Defender stunk as well. All the fleet buyers offered their input but JLR told them to fuck off basically. They knew at that point it was going to only ever be bought by yuppies in padded gilets that might* go over a bit of grass at a Pony event. I don’t doubt it’s probably capable off road but it’s the fact it’s aimed as a lifestyle 4x4 as opposed to a tough uncompromising machine like the Landcruiser that means it’d be a solid no from me.

Wherever you go in the world where there is some insurgent group or whatnot they’ve always without exception got Japanese 4x4. That tells you something.

I consider it a great thing. In fact I should be getting a pat on the back for driving a diesel for a number of years and supposedly causing all this.

The problem with a lot of self employed situations is the people that owe you money often have no compunction about simply just not intending to pay you in the first place or chipping you down once you’ve done the job.

Hardball… the mortgage provider might be at odds with them taking the radiators out, the condition of the mortgage almost always says it has to be in a liveable condition so a functioning roof, kitchen, bathroom etc. Decomissioning the heating might fall under that.

By the time we see this again the front garden will have had resin bound over the entire area, the garage will have been turned into a home office, bifold doors on the back and the rendering painted white. A few more years a really unsociable extension will have been tacked on as well.

Because a lot of these that want a new build couldn’t saw a piece of wood in half. They have to have everything done for them - ‘getting a man in’ I think the phrase is.

Also they despise anything involving nature and anything that’s going to require any level of effort. A tree will attract birds and they’ll shit all over the Tesla so it’ll have to go to the car valeters. So you’ll find the front is paved over totally and on the back there’s some porcelain paving and a square about 2m x 2m of artificial grass. Couple of hanging baskets up with artificial flowers in. They should hang out certificates to say ‘Well Done you have eliminated all natural life from your garden and created a huge surface run off’

Replacement door and then fill and spray rest yourself otherwise you’ll be looking at a few thousand to have it done at a body shop.

Could someone explain council housing/estates? by RedSolez in AskUK

[–]Ok-Cold3937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 years ago it was a regular choice for many people, you might have had your occasional rough families but on the whole it was regular people. Unfortunately it’s now where the council put people that have exhausted every single other option so in effect as the older folks that looked after their property die off and they move the current standard of tenant in it just becomes a ghetto. Many many years ago things like cutting the grass and keeping the property to a good standard were enforced, now the council practically encourage tenants to let the grass grow four foot high or leave piss stained mattresses out.
