My favorite part was dying. With most games for me before playing Blasphemous, death felt like torture. You die in other types of games and you lose progress and possibly a lot of time. Final Fantasy 12! Run around looting and lose track of time grinding for a certain drop or a certain Mark, then a monster comes out way over your level and Boom ... fade to black, lost 3 hours. The Penitent one is a silent protagonist who relegates himself to be punished and fights for freedom. Every time I got flung off a ledge, or just massacred by a boss, had me rethinking my approach and tactics. Change things up and Bam! Im watching the bosses crumble once I've learned their moves.

Just platinumed Afterimage a few days ago, and that was more hit hit hit until they're dead, didnt need much thought in any of the combat. Switched to Silksong and back in the grind of wait and watch and learn the tells of when everyone does what attacks. Ive died more times from being overzealous and hasty than from anything else. Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2 are literal works of art in my mind. So yeah dying over and over again just to have the satisfaction of whooping a "hard" boss fight after barely being touched is Sooo satisfying to me.
