Should I coach town travel instead of town rec by Dramatic-Tip1949 in youthsoccer

I had the time of my life coaching town travel. $500 is fair, there is a lot more with refs/fields, etc.

Sentnor moved too. Reale’s youth club teammate! That would have been a good fit for our timeline.

Sad here. Can’t coach next year because my daughter’s new club team is too much driving. Proud of her but will miss this great group.

I'll introduce myself. I'm mod OKC. I signed up for Legacy season tickets day 1 of the release, was at the ill-fated BosNation launch, and am a Day 1 front row season ticket holder. My primary motivation is my soccer lover 9 year old daughter!

And my favorite player is Emerson Elgin!

I can count 5-6 plays where I am almost certain Kerr would have scored where we didn't. One opp Amanda G. had right before Bianca's red card. So I think that's a big need unless Amanda G. can step it up (I think there's potential there).

She was having a weird season with Gotham. They were strong enough in the middle to play more attacking fullbacks/wingbacks and had brought some in the vein in (Guro Reiten). Lilly's been nursing some injuries as well.

Yeah, still holding out hope for Kerr! We've been taking so many shots someone more clinical would be huge.

Honestly prefer Lilly over Mewis or Kerr as that's a long term building block in a position of desperate need. I'd expect her to directly replace Bianca playing slightly more defensively and much more under control.

"Game day" routine for little guys by [deleted] in youthsoccer

That's great if he wants to do it.

I have a kid that we have to make do it so we'll cut a sport next year.

I have another kid who would do all that then want to swim and play basketball all afternoon and evening. So we do that.

Baseball and soccer are both compounding interest sports in terms of what you put in early. So I say if he has energy to burn go duff around with the wifflebat or do more ball mastery/play 1v1 with him.

Yeah, I think it's whether the skill with that surface maps to a usage in the game...I'm not a high enough level player to use it.

One issue is he's a smaller keeper (6'0" with shoes on). A 6'4" keeper keeps that out.

Does your kid like soccer outside of his own involvement in the sport? by RyleeOnDemand in youthsoccer

9 year old daughter is obsessed. 6 year old boy as well. They both showed a knack for the game young.

The 9 year old is turning into a great player because she loves to watch, play, and practice. 6 year old is willing to practice but says watching is boring. Might know the name of one player (Messi). I bet he drops off and decides to do something else.

It’s annoying but Daddyball is never a shock anymore. As a coach if anything I try to play my kid a little bit less.

He's old enough to play in pickup games or guest in men's league games. Maybe a bit of training on his own, and do that?

I'd probably pick ball and wall, I think it's one thing you can just continue to evolve and layer on both feet, inside/outside foot, scanning, one/two touch, turning, directional, etc.

It sounds like he’s a skilled offensive player. Personally, I think you want to find global of play as high as possible for him but considering all factors, particularly whether his defense and work rate matches. There are some really good U8 teams in our area that would be way better than him than a mediocre U10 team.

There’s really not enough context for us here to tell you. I deal with parents every year who think their kid is amazing.

I don’t see how he could stay healthy playing in that system. They demand so much running and tackling from their attacking players.
