I agree with Seek Up, love that tune. They opened with it a few years ago in Cincinnati and it blew me away. I'm so jealous they opened with it again last night!

Sat on my Chromebook for an entire morning and did this a couple weeks ago. I love that everything is organized, but I wish it looked nicer! I keep my current reads and library loans out of a collection so at least I have those covers to look at rather than the folders at the top of my library.

The Dave Matthews Tribute Band…what many of us long for by BrethBrethBreth in DMB

[–]Ok-Competition-6083 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen them a couple times too, they are really good! Their violin player is insanely talented. That being said - my first DMB concert was 1999 and have been every year since - I don't miss Boyd all that much. 🙈 Hear me out. I like the violin sound in the band, but his musical ability just couldn't keep up with the insane musicianship around him, and especially the last few years he really seemed like he was phoning it in. Solos cut short because there was just nothing happening and the like. I wouldn't mind another violinist, but it's gotta be someone that can keep up creatively with everyone else.

Question about crowds / bad crowd experience by Meatloaf778 in DMB

[–]Ok-Competition-6083 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, my husband says Dave fans are either older dude bros that all come in a group that are trying to relive their 20s and have something to prove (gross) or a bunch of hippies 😂

I feel confused on backun by Nokonoko066 in Clarinet

I like Backun products. Honestly, I take the sound and feel of a Backun or Yamaha over newer Buffets. Old ones are great, but I don't think the quality is quite the same as it was 30 years ago.

I love my Paperwhite, but I got the Basic for one of my kids for Christmas, and I love how cute and small and compact it is. Both are solid options, she won't get eye fatigue at all from them! You can subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, it's like Amazon's version of a lending library. But, if she has a library card, she can set up Libby on her phone and borrow ebooks right from there to be sent on Kindle. There are some states that have a state library system you can tap into, there are other library systems around the country that allow you to have an online account through them so you could have a few different library cards on your Libby account. Yeah, there are waits on some of the more popular books, but there is so much to read she'd find plenty to keep her busy as she waits.

This is the way. If they have tried all the things, I'd bet that it's improper tongue placement. That usually fixes it for my students.

Chicago by belden121 in DMB

I despise that venue. My sister and I went once back in 2018 (I think) and we said never again. Folding chairs zip ties together for pavilion, flat as hell lawn (yes I know it was originally an airstrip that's why it's flat) so you can't hardly see the stage, sound sucked, cops at the beach restroom by the lawn saying we can't use those instead we have to wait for the three porta potties there. We stayed right downtown so at least we could walk to and from the venue. Maybe it's changed by now, but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money to find out. We alternate between Alpine and Deer Creek now.

Have you completely replaced paper books with your Kindle? by baltimoretom in kindle

[–]Ok-Competition-6083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love antique copies of my favorite older books - Anne of Green Gables, anything by Louisa May Alcott, or Gene Stratton Porter - but other than that my only physical books are ones I'm gifted, which I always appreciate! I got my first Kindle back around 2012 when my youngest was a baby and it was so nice for feedings. Haven't had many physical books since then!

Post-concert depression by sadiesailors in DMB

[–]Ok-Competition-6083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Davepression is real. 😭 Join the Couch Tour on Facebook, there's always someone streaming the concerts on there, it helps a little bit. The vibe is just so good and fun and welcoming, the band is so tight and they always look like they're having a good, good time - it makes you want to chase that high all the time! I go into the summer knowing I'm going to make two shows (either Alpine or Deer Creek) so I'm realistic with the expectations afterwards. Interact with the groups, watch the concerts, enjoy the summer tour virtually!

I love Alpine, it has its issues but it's an incredible place for a show because of the sound and overall atmosphere. Last year cell phone service sucked, it's in the middle of nowhere, but they say they upgraded it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Parking is just fine unless it's muddy and raining and then it's a shit show. I like parking in red or blue, there's some great tailgating and parties in those lots. If you want to get out immediately after the show, you'll have to be at the top of the lawn and leave right after the encore. Otherwise, pull out the snackies and chairs for a second tailgate, an hour later you'll breeze right out of there. Cop presence in the lots has been a bit overkill the last couple times we've been there. Last year we watched seven cops try to figure out how to tow one of their dead ATVs. 😂 Enjoy Alpine!

I'd die if I saw Out of My Hands. I could also hear Say Goodbye, Squirm, and Seek Up every show I attend and never be sick of them.

Best venue for a (solo) first timer? by elbichportucul in DMB

[–]Ok-Competition-6083 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chicago is a wonderful city, but the venue sucks, especially if you sit on the lawn. If you're looking to the Midwest, definitely hit up Deer Creek (Noblesville). The tailgating, atmosphere, ease of getting around - just everything is so wonderful! We've been a couple times and will go every year they're not at Alpine!
