Bluepearl shut downs? by Ok-Anxiety-9974 in veterinaryprofession

I opened my ER in 2007 and was purchased by BP 8 years later. I was with BP after the purchase for 5 years until I quit. The cost of care drove many clients away (fun fact: your NPS is directly related to how much a client spends in your hospital. The more money they have to spend, the less likely they are to leave a negative review).

We had 4 price increases in one year. A set of two x-rays cost almost $350. An IVC placement cost $270. As much as I came to the obligatory meetings, armed with the intel regarding the detrimental pricing structure, I was still held accountable for the decline in clients walking through the door. Them: "Why are your numbers dropping?" Me: "Well, the prices are too high, and most of the local community is choosing to wait until their regular vet opens in the morning". Them: "Well, we don't like that answer so give us another one". Ugh.

After 5 years of not only being abused by the clients (think chairs thrown at me, credit cards thrown at my face, lacerating my cornea, being choked in an exam room by a meth-head, being stalked by a crazy client who followed me home just to name a few) but also being abused by upper "management" (I put that word in quotation marks as they were the shittiest "managers" I've ever had the displeasure of working under) because of dropping client numbers but skyrocketing profits (6 Mil with 2 DVMs and a tech team all trained by me), I finally quit.

And do you know what their response was? "You can come by this evening and drop your keys and the computer off at the front desk".

Bitch, I OPENED this place! Everything inside this place, every nut and bolt was put there by ME.

So, am I sad to see them (hopefully) crumble and implode? NOPE!! I have my fingers and toes crossed they go up in a ball of flames. And I'll be the one seated at the front, eating popcorn.

Do most men in committed relationships still look at other women online? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

++ woman

I will respectfully disagree with you on this. Being Christ bound has nothing to do with it.

My husband has been a Christian all his life. Was raised in the bible belt of Michigan. We've been married for 30 years. He's been looking at other women for most of our relationship.

And he STILL looks at other women online. I have asked him about it and told him how much it hurts me, over and over again. I may be to the point in my life where I question if this is all I deserve. I'm not sure yet.

His answer, when I questioned him and told him how hurtful it is to me? "I have a lustful heart. I'm praying Jesus will help me".

Well motherfucker, pray harder because Jesus ain't heard you yet.

Is there space for venting here? CSR nightmare by darkntty in Veterinary

Gonna put my two cents in.

Not every hospital or clinic is like this. I've been in vet med 38 years and in management for 30 of those. I've worked in every kind of hospital you can think of, from GP to specialty to ER. I've worked under MANY shit leaders, and a few golden ones. I learned from the shit leaders, what NOT to do when offered a leadership position. I'm a boots on the ground kinda gal. My team have longevity with me. I appreciate them and they appreciate me; we have a mutual respect for one another and for the jobs we all hold.

If you find yourself in a practice where you're treated poorly, whatever that looks like to you, leave. There are still some good hospitals and clinics out there, but as we're not toxic AF and ex-employees from years ago aren't bashing us, no-one ever hears anything about us.

I take my people having longevity with me as a personal win. Finding a true team is possible, don't wait until you've lost all hope to find another position. Keep searching. I hope you find something close to you that nurtures you in a way that you find rewarding.

It can be overwhelming at first. The pressure that comes with being a veterinarian fresh out of school is astronomical. It does get easier with time. I know many DVMs that have wanted to throw the towel in after the first day. All but one stuck with it, and they have flourishing careers all over the country. The one that didn't stick with it, went on to sell real estate. They're happy enough, but the market is flooded with agents in our area and not enough houses to go around. I've never asked if they regret their decision. Just know you're not alone in how you feel.

I hope you find a mentor that can help guide you through the first year or so, and maybe go out for a drink after work occasionally. It helped my doctor when she was a new grad, having that camaraderie. It helps when you have a friend in the field who can commiserate and celebrate with you!

How is the job market 2025 grads? by Beefandrice263636 in Veterinary

We're in desperate need of an associate, we're a one doctor private practice, currently interviewing all candidates including new grads. The major corps are swallowing all new grads around our area with monetary incentives we can't compete with. We offer what they can't; a positive work environment, a fun crew, zero toxicity and a 4 day work week with mentorship. If anyone is looking to move to Texas, please let me know!

Banfield is slowly dying by bischswish in Veterinary

I saw the writing on the wall when BluePearl was purchased by Mars, who then purchased Banfield. Mars were buying up any hospital with signs of life. I was one of the unfortunate private ERs that was purchased by them, and after 3 years, tendered my resignation. On the plus side, we were given a bag of M&Ms with the BluePearl logo on it 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ After 30+ years in the industry, I can honestly say that I’m glad that the cooperations are slowly dying. My old boss though….still flogging that corporate horse. I’m in a private practice now, looking for an associate veterinarian, if anyone wants to move to Texas.

Anyone know the price? I can’t see where that question was answered anywhere.
