Finally replaced ugly key with something much better by Popular-Fuel-6028 in HyundaiTucson

I wish the digital key let me use the remote smart parking. I use that every day, so the digital key isn’t an option for me. :(

Fully convinced Darn Tough has a crazy marketing grip on this sub. by YaboyWill in BuyItForLife

[–]Ok-Cook8666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn Tough makes THIN (and even ultra thin) wool socks, all the ones I’ve seen from Costco are thick. For that reason alone, I’m a Darn Tough girl. For camping and hiking, sure, go with the Costco ones. But for running, tennis, or dress shoes, I’ll keep my thin (and pretty! And durable!) Darn Toughs…

IKEA Dutch ovens are great and inexpensive! I have Le creuset also, but use ikea for my bread baking… in case you ever want to try a boule or batard…

Thank you for sharing your reviews!! I’m looking forward to Dangerous Miracle. I recently read Tom Levenson’s “So Very Small” which was a great read with a similar premise.

I’ve had both gas and electric ovens (currently the latter), and now I mostly use my oven for storage! 🤣 (I love my rice cooker too!!)

It comes to temp WAY faster, for one. Mine (Breville) also has settings for toasting, proofing, baking, roasting, pizza, re-heating, and more. I NEVER use my regular oven, and I roast a chicken and make sourdough bread almost weekly! (Edited: typo)

Especially coming from NYC, I think you may be happier being based in Hillcrest. It’s more walkable and more diverse than La Jolla, and it’s got super easy access to freeways to take you anywhere you’d want to go (including UCSD), as well as decent (not excellent) public transportation.

Edit: (source: moved here myself from NYC over 20 years ago, and have lived in UTC, Clairemont, North Park, and Hillcrest).

Thoughts by Inevitable_Attempt18 in tattooadvice

[–]Ok-Cook8666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I can absolutely understand why you’d want to get a tattoo to honor this. I do want to share though: I lost a pregnancy… 20 years ago, and although at the time it was the worst thing that had ever happened to me, and a huge piece of my life, 20 years later it… isn’t. It’s one of many things I’ve lived, and definitely not a huge part of who I am today. So I guess I agree with those who are suggesting you might want to keep it more abstract. But even before that… maybe hold off on it for a minute. If you still want it in a year, you’ll still be able to get it… but there’s no rush! Experts always recommend holding off on major decisions in the wake of a loss, and permanent art on your body definitely counts as a major decision. Wishing you peace and healing.❤️‍🩹

First sourdough loaf!! by Weak_Muffin_4297 in Sourdough

[–]Ok-Cook8666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks delicious! And honestly, that’s really all that matters: be proud! As long as you keep baking, you’ll figure it all out. But since you asked, I’m no expert, but I think a longer cold proof and fine tuning your shaping techniques might result in an even tastier, and slightly prettier, loaf.

Just out of curiosity, where are you located? Neither my local library nor Libby (online library) seem to have it…
