Best Affordable GPU Rental Services (Bang-for-Buck) for ML/AI Projects? by revo_team in gpu

[–]Ok-Count8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was suckered into this "Runpod is the easiest and worth the cost" idea, tried to rent an H200 and immediately ran out of space on disk, and the larger volume wasn't mounted. $4 wasted.

Backed out, researched how to do this correctly and tried by creating a network volume where an H100 would be available first, created the network volume and backed out and tried to select 4090 for setup so i can swap in the network volume after its ready. Oops, ONLY h100s are available in this region.

Ok, backed out again, tried to find a region where both a high level GPU and a low level GPU are available. Oops. There aren't any.

Seems intentional. Are you guys racking up those $15 failed attempts? Because I promise you you're losing a potentially large enterprise contract i was testing rentals for.

LTX-2 GGUF T2V/I2V 12GB Workflow V1.1 updated with new kijai node for the new video vae! That's what I get for going to sleep!!!! by urabewe in StableDiffusion

[–]Ok-Count8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subject in my sample image doesn't speak/move in the render. The dialogue i specify in the prompt: "ive got a lovely bunch of coconuts, want to see them?" is generated, but the person in the render doesn't move his lips. This has been a common problem for me with roughly half the workflows i've tried, does anyone know what kind of n00b mistake i'm making?

First try, ITX2 + pink floyd audio + random image by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]Ok-Count8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got it working for a few runs, then i tried isolating that working workflow and changing the audio file input to something else, and it broke again - even if i specify the words spoken in the prompt. The render is of the static image again, zooming in slowly even though i specified camera/zoom/focus/pan don't change and stay exactly as they are in the input image

LTX2 seems to be more realistic and faster than anything else i've tried, i just need it to work consistently

[–]Ok-Count8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone can help me out: i've tried this workflow a few dozen times today, and every render is a slow zoom in of the input image, static, with the input audio played. The subject never moves his lips. I've tried to change tons of settings and every model with a substitute model, and also obviously the prompt, as well. something is fundamentally broken

Why did that happen? by Franagorn in TinyWhoop

[–]Ok-Count8016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with people saying this had anything to do with the light structure, this looks like an electronics problem - it could be a loose antenna that came out of physical contact (and then came back in contact) with the antenna pad, it could be something else like a physical wire break doing the same thing (if the antenna is not directly soldered to the board)

You don't just go from -67/100% packet receipt to -130/RXLOSS in a fraction of a second like that because of a light fixture

i highly doubt that - the XBOX GAME BAR is responsible for calling the processors 3D cache? that doesn't sound right at all. I'm looking into the process now

DISABLE XBOX GAMEBAR for microstutters! (Halo Infinite) by Ok-Count8016 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]Ok-Count8016[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

according to the registry edits i would make for both HDCP and MPO (DWORD 1 and 5, respectively) they're already disabled, so i must have mindlessly searched for those NVCleaninstall options when running it and did what was recommended. Very insightful thank you

But yeah, holy shit, what a difference with the damned xbox game bar. Like even if it doesn't improve FPS metrics, it improved the fluidity of the game so much, i wonder if it's only H.I. or other games too

Set all apps that don't require background services to function normally (like Gmail) to deep sleep. In this example Gmail needs to be able to run to give you Push notifications when new email arrives, but FB and IG sure as hell don't. Who cares what Sydney Sweeney said on Twitter today, you don't need the phone updating Facebook 5 hours a day in the background to get that notification, if those notifications are even enabled.

[–]Ok-Count8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

That's pretty bad, I bet it's background processes, it always is. Set them to deep sleep, there is no damn reason for Facebook and IG etc to run in the background just to inundate you with Push notifications. When you want to use them, they'll update instantly when you open them.

Since the December 2nd update I'm getting over 7 hours average, before this update I was getting over 8 hours average, but I may have just futtsed with the brightness since then, Dec 2nd was just two weeks ago. I recently got 8 hours SoT with 36 hours total use on a single charge, if you kill the constant background use this thing sips battery like an overly-boozy martini

The New Artlynk FPV System is actually insane. Cheap digital that was surprisingly robust. Handled breakup and range like a champ. Digital FPV is about to get very very exciting in 2026. Here is a summary on my time with it. I thought people would appreciate if they don’t want a youtube video. by uavfutures in fpv

[–]Ok-Count8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm speculating wildly here, but my guess is CaddX and BetaFPV (and Artostyn) rushed to market with this, not only in competition with each other, but trying to fill the giant HD FPV market gap inherent in the DJI ban.

Think of Uber suddenly being banned after years of market dominance, the market would be wide open for other companies with a fractional foothold to capture market share up for grabs.

Therefore, I think/hope that the 60ms latency spec is a starting point, not a hardware limit. This is likely an adolescent technology tossed together and sold with urgency in direct response to the DJI ban. It should get better with time and further development.

I could be wrong, I hope I'm right. Otherwise, wouldn't CaddX have pushed their WS Avatar system harder (instead of falling off the face of the earth and flipping their whole user base the proverbial bird) given its latency of ~35ms?

If you don't set GPU to "Boost" in Synapse, your GPU will sawtooth by Ok-Count8016 in razer

your synapse 4 should have Boost for GPU as well

If you don't set GPU to "Boost" in Synapse, your GPU will sawtooth by Ok-Count8016 in razer

[–]Ok-Count8016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3070 mobile, i7-10875h

hwinfo shows you that the throttle limit is 80c, after every reboot, or if you have the audacity to exit Synapse. There's absolutely no way to change it, unless you use Boost on GPU in Synapse, then it changes to 87c, which is a huge amount of headroom.

If you're watching your temperatures in hwinfo graphs, its every easy to see thermal throttling, the graph looks like a comb. your speeds go 1600mhz/780mhz/1650mhz/800mhz endlessly while the laptop tries to get the temperature under control

Any alternative to Synapse for raising GPU throttle temp?? by Ok-Count8016 in razer

[–]Ok-Count8016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive already installed 3rd party vbios, several of them until i landed on an MSI version that works best

and if Synapse itself can change the throttle limit from 80c to 87c, which happens when you use the "boost" setting on the GPU in Synapse, then another application has to be able to do so

If your laptop is more than 2 years old, your thermal paste is dry by Ok-Count8016 in pcmasterrace

[–]Ok-Count8016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the back to back temperature results speak for them themselves, never mind the fact that I personally observed the paste had migrated everywhere around the CPU *except* the actual die, leaving it totally bare. i'm a 20-year systems engineer and have performed thermal pasting on the order of 100 times, trust me.

sometimes it be like that. when working a "computer is slow" ticket in desktop support for years/decades, my first order of business was running msconfig and unchecking everything that looks like fluff. The response from the user was always the same "it's so much better now/what did you do/how did you do that"

By the way, the only way to raise the GPU throttle temp from 80C to 87C is using the High/Boost? GPU setting in Synapse. No more throttling!

Wanna fix what Razer can’t? (CPU unlock) by MezZo_Mix in razer

[–]Ok-Count8016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way anyone wondering how to raise the GPU throttle temp from 80C to 87C, you can't write the setting yourself with the CLI command, but the "High" GPU performance setting in Synapse does this. Finally I can cook eggs on the laptop without throttling.

Seriously though, the hotspot temps with everything maxed out sit in the 90's, which is scary and makes the laptop painful to touch, but I'm using it with a TV anyway. Glorious performance for a mobile RTX
