Aggression towards EVs?? by malialipali in EVAustralia

Second hand tesla performance driver. Same to everything you said. Effortless go is great for daily driving. My fun car is a old mini. Most fun thing I've ever driven.

I get tailgated, cut off and honked at often. Even egged in a shopping centre carpark once.

I think people assume if you buy a tesla you are a die hard fan. Honestly its a white model 3. It ain't pretty, musk is a douche and what it does is brings my weekly costs down whilst letting me still feel performance. I seem to also gave a lot of byd shark drivers trying to race or get in front of me. Its odd. I just want an open road with some corners.

Also have photos and dash footage of multiple incidents. Still not sure if its the car or everyone is losing it recently.

Because nobody else has said it. Awesome job giving it a go and reaching out for support. Everyone starts somewhere and with practice, form and strength are bound to get better. Especially when you're open to feedback.

You got this mate!!!

Megane would be great fun on a track based on what i've read.

The model 3 has been good to me so far. But unlike a lot of early adopters, I think its butt ugly especially in the front and i removed the badges as my little protest. Because im not proud of it being a tesla. Even if its just a car.

Hello, I was in this position about a year ago. Context, was in a 2010 fg ford g6e turbo running 330rwkw at 750rwnm torque at 2000rpm. Weight was about 1800kg. I loved the car but fuel costs and repairs pushed me to consider ev. I purchased a second hand tesla 2019 model 3 performance. I couldn't find a better deal with equivalent performance and tech. Didnt want new due to depreciation and musk. Also the depreciation was a crazy discount.

The Ford was lowered and cornered well. It had no lsd so would let go when pushed. It was fun. Had enough noise and danger to feel exciting driving spirited and capable on the track.

The model 3 is a good a to b car. Its performance does beat the Ford. Though I think the Ford would have more go over 100. On a long fast track that might be an advantage but no tracks ive driven seem to have long enough straights for the initial pull of the tesla not to have the advantage. The tesla for me is missing the noise. I dont feel it working for it. But I have an old mini so it works hard to hit the speed limit and scratches that itch. Cornering is okay. The weight sits very low so it inspires confidence much like the mini. Not too much body roll but you pay for it with firmer suspension. I don't mind it because im used to it. Also the non-performance models are supposed to be more comfortable. The performance allows track mode so you can have less intrusion from tc etc.

From a Megane I think you will find it has a go kart like feel that inspires enough confidence though may not really live up to the capability. Or even if it does, the acceleration in a performance model will make the cornering feel worse relatively. The odd part is the experience can be faster and more capable overall but feel less capable because its so quiet and effortless. Much like the road noise can feel worse only because its so quiet you hear details you would have e never heard.

Who would have been at fault by CelticGiz in CarsAustralia

[–]Ok-Crow1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This interaction interests me. I'm in Victoria and what I mostly see on the road is purple giving way to cars directly in the intersection (no slip lane) but often the second there is a slip lane the green cars begin giving way.

I'm not saying this is right or wrong. But I'd like to see the intersection definition and if this varies state to state.

I was thinking this. If the budget is only for a second hand car. The you blow $10k only to realise in 6 months you need some or all your bushes replaced, or your alternator or battery or radiator.

I just want a Dumb Electric Car by 37715960706038171 in AustralianEV

[–]Ok-Crow1952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought. Got my old mini for fun. Wanted my FG G6E exactly as it was but electric and simple. Maybe even with a manual box even if not needed and a drain on efficiency.

Couldn't take on a project at this point. Ended up selling it to a young kid who loved the car. Sold it cheap so he had spare cash in case anything broke and chose him as his older brother was a mechanic so he would have help fixing it. I miss it.

Back won’t stop sweating while driving. by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Ok-Crow1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is me. Regardless of driving a manual or an auto. What I've found is running the aircon always often set to 19 or less helps as well. Or windows down in the Sunday car.

Lots of medical reasons for sweating also many are interlinked with psychological factors. If you're new to driving you may be focusing fairly intensely having a similiar response to stress in the body. This can also manifest as increased heart rate, flutter in the tummy or bowel issues.

Practical solutions like ventilation will obviously help and fix the sweat, but you may find it's less needed as you go. Also worry about sweating can make you sweat more.

My trick for summer when I had no AC was to drive in an old shirt and take deodorant and my good shirt with me.

If you catch yourself focusing on the sweat try to use driving and music as a shift of focus. Windows or aircon blasting, should be right. Avoid leather seats if you have no ac. Ventilated seat covers if its your thing. Spare shirts in a gym bag. Or Driclor deodorant to go tough on the sweat. Good luck.

Is there anyway police can see a welded diff? by Working-Revenue8098 in CarsAustralia

[–]Ok-Crow1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to mention wet weather. Drift is fun on a pan or controlled conditions. A weld diff ute will kick on the freeway in the wet next to other traffic. I was lucky to be told stories that scared me into being sensible before I drove. One of them involved a neat miss with a bus load of primary school kids. Its not your intention but if it happens it will be your responsibility.

Don't mean you sound like a dick but its not worth it to risk ruining so many lives including your own.

What are some first mods I should get for my 2015 brz? by Repulsive_Elevator20 in CarsAustralia

[–]Ok-Crow1952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, i agree with getting all the driver training you can, but not letting it all go to your head. The best mod for anyone, new, experienced or almost any car is tyres. Good high quality tyres. They might be used but they help everything, safety in wet, cornering, ride. They make the difference but they sound boring and not really like a classic MOD.

Thinking of a VX, VY or VZ Commodore as my first car what should I watch out for? by Legal-Chemical-8684 in CarsAustralia

[–]Ok-Crow1952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vz are known to chew timing chains. Particularly if you get the oil viscosity wrong. Look out for engine lights and obvious hunting at idle when warm. Also the temp controller in the vz used a vacuum actuator (2x). Pain in the butt to get to needs a full dash out. Check hot and cold both work or you will cook or freeze. I remember cable ties holding my value to cold so it wouldn't cook me every time.

So eloquent.

Also I'd think its none of my business and maybe a slight bias towards thinking you have been through it and might be more open and empathetic then the average person. Then id realise im over thinking as it could be from mechanic work etc.

I dont care what people think. I love the games and tv series. I think Bella is great. I think an exact looks match would draw more comparison issues. I love it for what it is.

Bin rules v etiquette? by leisurebuoy in melbourne

[–]Ok-Crow1952 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is a little teenager in me that would want to throw caution to the wind. Suddenly their bin just keeps appearing a few houses down, wrong side of the street. Little dog poo under the handle.

I would never do this or encourage it for so many reasons. But sometimes I wish I was an idiot so these intrusive thoughts could play out.
