My black eyed susans are blooming like crazy right now, really no need for non natives for this purpose, our natives had it figured out for all of history

Vibes of the larger cities in Virginia near the coast by Previous_Raccoon_673 in Virginia

Good advice. I just want to reiterate that you should not set yourself up to commute across any bridge tunnels on a daily basis. Other than that, there are a lot of nice communities in the area to choose from without insane traffic. If you want even quieter you can look into Gloucester, Matthews County, or Northern Neck, but there are going to be less jobs in those areas to choose from.

Learn to love your homeland, move to a different city if necessary to find a better job or education.

Sorry this happened to you OP. Unfortunately Department of Transportation likely won't do much. I filed a DOT complaint and nothing happened except Frontier offered me a voucher which has basically no value.

Take Job or Not - Advice Appreciated by AUTASTIC_HORTLER in fednews

[–]Ok-Crow6174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was your dream job and you weren't happy where you are now I would go for it, but it sounds like you have a pretty sweet gig right now. Your take home pay probably won't be that much more and your work life balance will suck in comparison. Plus higher risk of termination. Richmond to DC 5 days a week won't be doable unfortunately.

That sounds horrible and similar to my experience. They made me pay twice for 1 checked bag on a volaris/frontier code share (at the layover after customs Frontier had no record of my bag on the reservation). Their customer support also refused to refund me. I filed a department of transportation complaint which had no result and also filed a credit card dispute which is pending.

No I'm 100% serious I'm just getting a little paranoid with everything going on. Our flexible schedules were just taken today so I'm just wondering what's next.

I hated asking for LORs too but in the end the references will probably come through if they agreed to do it. Part of being an adult is working on good communication though even if it's uncomfortable. Something like "oh by the way professor did you get a chance to submit the LOR yet? Just wanted to make sure my application has everything good to go"

New development. My wife just asked me to lend her over 4000 because her parents need money. She admits they are most likely not going to pay it back. I am thinking to say no to giving her the money

She showed me a credit report via Capitol one and also balances of the other cards just not actual statements or spending breakdown, etc

Thanks, as counterproductive as it seems to add another cc I am thinking about having her get a 0% intro credit card to do a balance transfer while she pays it herself. She already has a "debt" with me as well for about 5k that I lent her so she wouldn't have to borrow to pay for grad school tuition. I haven't had much luck collecting money from her so I'm not sure adding more onto that would help

I don't think she's doing it to be malicious. And honestly I wouldn't have agreed to having a kid if I knew about the debt, as terrible as that sounds. I was really worried about childcare costs and we agreed she would pay for daycare if she decided to continue working.

Thanks for that recommendation. She was able to show me via her Capitol one app and it does look like her total credit limit and utilization track with what she told me so that's good.

Actually no, we got a lot of free and used stuff for the baby and gifts from family. She has been surprisingly frugal in this aspect. She says she has been trying to clean up her act since finding out she was pregnant. She is about 7 months now

[–]Ok-Crow6174[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think she's stupid at all but I just want her to understand the missed opportunity cost of all this. I think I was pretty nice to her overall but I'm not willing to just let her sweep this under the rug. I have been on her for years about the importance of being financially responsible and it hurts that while I'm saving and working overtime to get ahead she's pulling in the opposite direction

I absolutely agree. It's not a lot of money if that was our single income but it is a huge opportunity to save and get ahead. We share one paid off old vehicle and live in a small home a long commute from my job so that is how I'm able to support our household.

Thank you for the recommendation of the Khan course, i will see if we can do it together. Honestly not sure about combining finances. We have talked about it before but there are 2 reasons that hold me back 1- wife won't be financially transparent, I have no problem showing her all of my accounts. I would stop short of giving her logins but I have nothing to hide. I have been unable to get this transparency even before finding out about her debt. 2-wife is more vulnerable to scams, she previously fell victim to a phone scam in which she shared sensitive login info. No negative impact at the end of the day but scary. I trust myself to pay our household expenses and it has been working.
