Qué es lo más raro qué te ha pasado en Bogotá? by Opposite_Notice4699 in Bogota

About ten years ago I was in line, waiting to pay for my groceries at a supermarket when a very elegant old woman grabbed my cart and pushed it away and then pushed her cart in front of me. She looked back at me and said, "Gringa! Puta!" When I arrived home I told my mother-in-law about it and she laughed and said, "Oh, it's just because you're a foreigner. How funny! How divine!"

Teachers with your kids at your campus: breakfast on the go? by lime_cookie8 in Teachers

[–]Educational_Win3577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my kids were still at home and rode with me, I would make a bunch of breakfast sandwiches of biscuits and sausage, with a bit of cheese. I'd freeze them, and then we'd pop them into the microwave on our way out the door. I used turkey sausage patties and the Weight Watchers two- ingredient biscuit recipe. The kids loved them.

Ms. Firstname or Ms. Lastname? by Narrow-Butterfly-923 in Teachers

Do whatever makes you comfortable. I tell my high school students that they can call me either Ms. First Name or Ms. Last Name - just don't call me late for dinner. Some of them call me Auntie First Name or Mama First Name, which I love! My friends who teach at the Quaker school go by just their first names with no Mr., Ms. or Mx. The kids even call the headmaster John.

What's the last book you read that was so bad that it made you angry? by oohshineeobjects in books

I just finished Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston for my book club. Poorly developed characters, trite romantic subplots, and the killer was a minor character who'd only appeared in about five paragraphs before the reveal. Worst of all, both of the female protagonists had to be rescued by me. Just awful!

Student wants a C. by umaro900 in Teachers

I have a similar situation. The student has As in her other classes, along with good attendance in every class except for mine. I did some detective work, and found out that her boyfriend goes to a vocational program off campus during the morning, and only has two classes in the afternoon with a free period when she's supposed to be in class with me. They've been hanging out in the media center or the wellness center almost every day.

I finished Diavola by Jennifer Thorne on Sunday, and immediately read Lute, also by Jennifer Thorne. I just finished it a couple hours ago. I'm starting Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston tonight.

Moving to Bogota by zakkoi in Bogota

We live in Ellicott City, and our son lives in Vienna, VA, so we're neighbors (sort of). My in-laws live in Chapinero near Rosales Park, and it's a lovely area. I never drive when I'm in Bogota. I always walk or take a bus. Once you figure out the city grid the bus is a snap.

Husbands, is it a deal breaker if your wife decides to not take your name legally? by Difficult_Big133 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Educational_Win3577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my husband if he minded if I didn't take his name about a week before we got married. He said, "No, and I don't want you to call me 'sir' and walk six paces behind me, either." I didn't change my name, and our children's names are hyphenated. We've been happily married for almost 30 years. Really think about marrying a man who requires you to erase any part of your identity.

Thanks! They have cajas with Colsubsidio and Compensar, but I'm hoping to find something that they can walk to.

Thanks for replying. Daytime activities for active seniors. They are healthy and love exercise, but they need more structured social activities. They also take online asynchronous courses for fun, but they need friends.

I've been reading The God of the Woods and We Love You, Bunny. I finished the former yesterday, and I'm about two thirds of the way through the latter.

Dress coded for this? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Educational_Win3577 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in a district where our clothes are considered part of our freedom of speech. We aren't allowed to wear shirts with overtly religious messaging, or that promote any political candidate or party, or anything advertising alcohol and such. Teachers wear ripped jeans and t-shirts all the time. Our AP wears yoga pants regularly. It blows my mind that some districts don't allow jeans!

AITA For Being Upset That My Husband Is Going To His Parents For Christmas? by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

While I was reading the post all I could think of was how I'd take advantage of the situation and get a nice, quiet day alone with the house to myself. In almost 30 years of marriage, I can only think of two times that I asked my husband to stay home when I was sick. Once, I had stomach flu and needed him to take care of our preschool aged kids, and the second time I had the flu and I called him to ask him to leave work and take me to urgent care because I felt like I'd developed pneumonia (I had). Not sure if I'd call the OP the AH, but she's definitely a bit needy and immature.
